The Sweetest Sound - Day 13 Color Challenge

My hubby saw three robins today in the driveway.....in the snow and below zero temps.  They were all huddled together and puffed up trying to keep warm.  I saw one last week, also.  I have never seen robins in the winter before this year.  I think they are confused by the warm weather we had before this week.  I pray they will be ok.  They are the inspiration for my cards today.

Here's what I've been up to today in my craft room...trying to keep warm....
Keep reading and scrolling to see each individually, with details.  I am submitting them to today's The Daily Marker Day 13 Color Challenge .
On this first card I used Penny Black's bird stamp 40-329 The Sweetest Sound.
I inked the main image stamp (birds) with my mini distress ink pads, carefully placing color where I wanted it.  I misted with a little water, then stamped onto watercolor paper.  The background is watercolor paper, onto which I stamped some PB stamps.  Then I spread white gesso on it for texture. After it dried, I overstamped a couple of the design elements.  The bird panel is raised up with craft foam.  The word die is from Simon Says Stamp.  I also spread some gesso on the bird panel so it coordinated with the background.

Card 2....
I kept things simple with this one.  It is the second generation stamping of the first card.  After I stamped the image for the first card, I spritzed the stamp again and stamped it onto another piece of watercolor paper.  This is it.  I added some other PB stamps into the background for interest.  The verse is from PB as well.

Card 3.....
I do love my pinks....this may be my favorite.  I kept it pretty simple again with this card.  For me, this is difficult, but sometimes a stamp just doesn't need much embellishing.

So, that's my coloring for the day.  Three cards using the same main stamp image.  I love to see how different each card looks when using the same stamp.  Sometimes I get together with a friend, and we stamp the same thing, and see how different our cards are in the end.  Interesting, and fun.  We also give each other ideas and critique.

These cards are also in these challenges:
Penny Black at Allsorts - Anything Goes with a stamp and die

That's it for today.  Tomorrow I will be back with day 14.  It has been so fun participating in this challenge.  Check out the other cards people have made at the challenge link above.

Blessings,

lynda

  5. Thanks for Posting these Lynda, they're beautiful!! I was digging through my stash the other day to gather some birthday goodies for Keenie (remember her?) and I realized I have that Penny Black stamp! Today will be the day I break it out and put it to good use! Thanks again for the inspiration! I love how you 'watercolored' them! (and don't worry, Keenie got a beautiful PB flower/hummingbird stamp, among other things, lol)
