Harvest Card

My card today was inspired by The Paper Players Challenge

I think I may have strayed just a wee bit from the clean and simple aspect, so if it does not qualify, I understand.  I would have been ok if I hadn't created the background, but I couldn't resist.  I do have a problem keeping to CAS!   But, I wanted to share anyways, and I'll take the chance.

I love fall, and all things autumn and fall.  I have been seeing those white pumpkins everywhere in the stores, and think they are so adorable, and something different.  So, I decided to use this inspiration for my card.
Stamps:  Penny Black 'pumpkins' cling stamp 40-145, Penny Black Letter Background 1999L, and Penny Black Curly Foliage 1993J.
I white embossed the pumpkins, then watercolored them using Derwent Inktense water pencils.  For the background, I stamped the swirl background stamp in Memories dye white ink pad, and the script background with Tim Holtz distress ink.  I used a Copic marker around the outside of the pumpkins to make them stand out and give them some shadow.  I used my Clarity stamp brush with some distress ink to distress along the edges of the card.

I did not have a stamp I really wanted for the verse, and I liked the word 'harvest' on the inspiration picture.  I decided to go for it and hand letter.  Unfortunately, that is when my white Uniball Signo pen decided to not play nice, and would simply not work.  So, after playing around with it trying to make it write, I decided to go to plan B.  I hand lettered the word with my Prismacolor white pencil.  I sharpened it as sharp as I could get it, and went for it.  I outlined it with a light tan Copic marker on the left side to help it stand out.

Some spatters of white and brown, and some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen finish off the card.

Challenges:

The Paper Players Challenge  - Inspiration picture above

Allsorts Challenge - Feels like autumn

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - One layer card

The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge - Color something every day for 30 days.

I hope you are having a great day.  Thanks so much for visiting.

Blessings,

lynda

  2. I bet you win at least one of those challenges. This card is gorgeous, and an especially nice save when your Signo white pen would not cooperate. I was having trouble with mine today, also.

  4. Oh my word! This is fabulous! I can't quite believe it's a one layer card as you've achieved such a lot of depth with the clever shadowing and layering you've done. Your colouring of the pumpkins is great. So brave and clever to do your own lettering! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players this week.
