Time for another Old Is New post on the Impression-Obsession blog, to bring some new looks to some of our much loved older stamps. For more ideas, check out the other designer's posts on the Impression-Obsession blog.
I'm going green and white with my card today...
I stamped the Fawn Lily L12010 onto bristol card stock, with Ranger Archival fern green ink. I colored the lily and leaves with Faber-Castell polychromos colored pencils.
I did a Google search for fawn lilies, as I didn't know what colors they were. Most were white, so I made mine white. I always find it a challenge 'coloring' something white on white paper. I really looked at the images I saw on Google, and saw lots blues, greens, and yellows in the shadows of the white flowers, so decided to play those colors up on mine for the shading.
I kept the composition of the card simple, to keep the flowers the center of attention. Just a simple light green A2 card, with a darker strip of green cardstock along the edge. I die cut the image in a circle, having the uppermost flower spilling over the circle, as well as the tiny tip of one of the upper leaves. I love the interest this adds to a simple layout.
For the verse, I chose the Gentle Hugs C13766. I love the print with the script. A little distressing around the circle and the verse panel, and some foam tape for mounting give added dimension. A trio of Studio Katia sparkling crystals give just a hint of sparkle.
For the inside of the card, I stamped a partial fawn lily, and a verse from the Lilies of the Field CL929 set.
I left plenty of space for a hand-written sentiment or note.
This is one of those cards that is meant to give hope to the recipient. Just to let them know they are on your mind and heart. A good one for the anniversary of a loved-one's passing also.
I hope you are enjoying our Old is New days on the IO blog.
