On The Farm Challenge At Impression Obsession

It's time for another challenge at Impression Obsession.  I hope you will join us for this fun 'On The Farm' challenge.  You have until June 16th to enter your card/s or project/s for a chance to win a $25 Impression Obsession gift certificate to the IO store!

My card features lots of flowers with an old wooden wheelbarrow.  I remember using a wheelbarrow like this on my grandma's farm when I was growing up.  I used to ride in it when I 'helped' my grandparents around the farm.  I love this scene, with the farmhouse and barn in the distant background.

I stamped the Spring Time Wheelbarrow image onto Bristol card stock, then painted it with Gansai Tambi watercolors.  I kept the brush just slightly wet, using more pigment than water.  This helped keep the paper from buckling, and also gave me more intense color.

For the background, I applied Faber Castell Pitt Pastel pencils.  I rubbed the pastel pencils onto some scrap card stock, and picked up the color by rubbing a cotton make up remover pad into the color, then rubbing it onto the card.  I used a clean cotton swab to remove any chalk that may have gotten on the colored image.

I die cut the Black Eyed Susan dies, and used my i-brush ink applicators to add distress ink to color the flowers and leaves. I love these ink applicators, as they have a fabulous brush head, instead of foam, and it's much easier to control the color to achieve smooth blending.  They are like the sponge finger daubers, except with brush heads!

INSIDE
Inside:  I used the negative part of the card stock that I cut the dies from as a stencil, and brushed yellows through to created the negative flower effect on the inside of the card.  I stamped the image again and cut the butterfly, colored with distress ink, and added it.

I hope to see you at our On The Farm Challenge.  You can check out the other designer's cards HERE.
And be sure to come back tomorrow for our one day Summer Die Cut hop!

I am adding my card to these other challenges:
Addicted To Stamps - Make your mark
The Card Concept - Bright florals
Double D - Use your scraps
Time Out Challenges - Inspiration quote - "Let us be grateful to the people that make us happy.  They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."  Marcel Proust

Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,
