Cardinal Celebration

Happy Monday!  Today is Old Is New day at Impression-Obsession.  We have had so much fun with the new Spring Release stamps.   Now IO's design team members are showing some love to our wonderful 'classic older stamps' today.  We will be doing this a couple of times a month, so that these images can get inky with some new ideas for your inspiration.

For my card today, I chose this gorgeous winter cardinal scene.....

IO Stamps:  Cardinals By Window F1929 
                  Life Stuff Sentiments CL491 
                  Winter Cardinal K1338

I stamped the Cardinals By Window F1929  image with potting soil Ranger Archival ink onto Canson watercolor paper.  I painted the image with Daniel Smith watercolors.

When dry, I die cut the image with a Spellbinder's die from my stash, and distressed the edges of the die with distress ink.  I used craft foam to layer this panel onto white card stock, which I had distressed, then onto a brown square card front.

I added the verse, which is from the Life Stuff Sentiments clear set.  I distressed it, and used foam tape to give it added dimension. 

For a little more interest, and to balance off the bottom of my card, I stamped and water colored the cardinal from the Winter Cardinal cling stamp.  I added him to the bottom right with foam tape.
