Old Is New At Impression Obsession - Peace Bouquet

Hello friends!  It's time again for Old Is New at Impression Obsession.  I used an older fall stamp from the IO line for my card today.  I challenged myself to make it look 'springy.'
IO Stamps/Die:
Autumn Bouquet D15145
Be At Peace C13893
Blessed Rock C20805
Typewriter Sentiments DIE905-Y

I stamped the Autumn Bouquet onto green card stock, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils.  I used an oval die, and mounted it to another oval die cut piece of light blue card stock.  I attached this to a blue A2 card front (to which I had added a green strip of card stock).

I die cut the 'peace' word from the Typewriter Sentiments die set, added it to a blue scrap, and attached it with foam tape.

A green silk ribbon adds the finishing touch!

Inside:
That's it.  I have been spending lots of time in my studio, trying to stay away from all the craziness with the news and scary events happening.  I find peace in my room.  I am sharing this peace with you today, via my card.

You can see the other participating designer's cards on the Impression Obsession blog HERE.

May you find peace and relief from anxieties as these events unravel in our world.  I turn to the source of all peace for me, my Lord.  When I look to Him, I know he is with me.  I know he will care for me, and be with me as I walk through this.  I pray you find that comfort.

Blessings,

Hope Is Stronger Than Fear

Hello.

I thought we could all use a little message of hope, and my card for the Technique Junkies blog today is just that.
Technique Junkies Stamps:  Contemporary Floral
                                           Hope Is Stronger

I started with a background which I had created a (long) while ago, using shaving cream and distress ink reinkers.  You can find a tutorial on this technique HERE, on the Splitcoaststampers tutorials page.

I inked the Contemporary Floral stamp with Ranger archival inks in green shades.  I used my Misti to stamp it a few times, adding different shades of greens.

I embossed the Hope Is Stronger verse on a scrap piece of white card stock, and embossed it with black.  I used foam tape to added it to the card for dimension.  Some layering, and I was done!

And for the inside....

Don't forget to use my code, TJ10Lynda at the checkout for a 10% discount on your purchases at Technique Junkies.

I pray you are all safe and well, and that you are finding peace in these are trying times.  Our country, indeed, our world, needs prayer.  Let us join together, help each other, and pray for God's mercy.  Peace be with you, my friends.

Blessings,

Card From Live Online Class With Copics and Polychromos

Hello, lovely peeps!  I am excited to show you a card I made today.  Not that it's spectacular, but because it is a card I created in an online class this afternoon, given by Lydia Fiedler.  You can find Lydia's blog, Understand Blue, HERE.  Be sure to stop by and see her magic soon!  Here is my card...

I used Magenta stamps in my card today, with Copic markers and Polychromos colored pencils.  Polychromos are my favorite colored pencils.  They allow many layers of color, without that waxy buildup.  Yet they blend ever so beautifully!!

I love Lydia's technique of adding Copic coloring to the image in the shadow areas, then filling in with colored pencils, leaving that all-important white space.  I haven't mastered the 'white space' quite yet.  I can't help it...I love to blend!  She uses a flicking technique, which I am practicing.  I'm somewhat happy with my card, however, I need to keep a little more white space, and do less blending out so my flicking strokes show more.  I will keep practicing.

Another tip I had learned from Lydia is to add some of the color from the flowers into the leaves.  I actually saw this on one of her previous videos, and have been doing it ever since.

I loved Lydia's class today, which she had offered (free) as a ray of positive sunshine in this cloud of Coronavirus frenzy.  It was a refreshing way to get away from the stress of all of that for a while this afternoon.  Be sure to stop by her blog and sign up for her posts.  She is a very talented, funny, and lovely lady.  I have learned a lot from her these past few years.

I am adding my card to these challenges:
The Flower Challenge - Anything goes
Simon Says Wednesday - Use some green

Thank you, Lydia!

Blessings,

Zentangle For A Wednesday Morning

Hello!  I have a spring-like ZIA (Zentangle inspired art) tile today, for the prompt at the Art Nudge group on Facebook.
Art Nudge is an inspiring new FB group.  Every Tuesday there is a new 'nudge' to get you inspired to create art.  ANY art.  Be sure to check it out and join the fun!

I was inspired by the tulips, and the colors in the prompt.

My kitty, Bella, helped me create today.

Walking on my work to get a better look.

Taking a cat nap on my die cutting table next to my desk.  She loves that there's a window there for her to watch the squirrels and birds.

Although it's colder today, spring is definitely in the air.  The geese are trumpeting their way back in droves (actually, I believe it is gaggles).  We had temps in the 60's Sunday and Monday, and lots of sprouts are poking through the garden soil.  My 'gardening urge' is intensifying.  Yes, that is a thing!

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy 'hump' day!

Blessings,

Die Cut Obsession Day At Impression Obsession - Tend The Little Things

There are lots of fabulous dies at Impression Obsession.  Today dies are in the spotlight for our Die Cut Obsession feature.  Be sure to check out what our designers have made today.  You can find today's participants at the Impression Obsession blog HERE.

I have a sweet spring card for my project today.

DIE055-N Leafy Branch
DIE154-A Small Bird Set
B13862 Tend Little Things
CC395 Shiplap Cover-A-Card

As you can see, I have used lots of smallish dies on my card.  I started with a background I had created with the Shiplap Cover-A-Card  stamp.  I had a scrap of it left over from a previous card, so I cut the Heart & Home  bird house from it. I cut the Leafy Branch from green card stock, and the Small Bird Set from red card stock.

I created a small rectangle of color by taping off a rectangle shape with painter's tape on a panel of white card stock.  I used my distress ink with daubers to apply greens and blues inside the taped shape.  I removed the tape , then spattered some water for some interest.

I assembled the die cut pieces in a composition over the background I had created on the cream card stock panel., and layered it with other panels onto an A2 light gray card front.  I added the Tend Little Things  verse.

I assembled some extra pieces inside the card to carry the theme through.

I hope you are enjoying our Monday die cut feature.  Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Believe In Magic Card With Alcohol Ink and Silhouette Stamp

Greetings, lovely peeps.  Hope you are having a fabulous Sunday.  I have a card to share featuring one of the new stamps from the Technique Junkies March release.
TJ Stamps:
Floral Silhouette
Fairy Garden Set  (verse)

I created a background with alcohol inks on semi gloss card stock.  When dry, I stamped the image using Ranger Archival ink.  I ran a Krylon gold leafing pen along the edges of the panel.  For the spatters, I made a puddle of the gold leafing ink from the pen, then spattered them onto the panel.

I added the panel to an A2 card front.  I embossed the verse from the Fairy Garden Set.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  I know I will be using this floral silhouette stamp often.  It has so many interesting possibilities.  Be sure to use my code, TJ10Lynda, if you are ordering, for a 10% discount.  In addition, all new release stamps are 15% off through the end of today.  Combined with my code discount, that's 25% off the new release stamps through today!

I also have a card on the Technique Junkies blog today, which also uses this same stamp.  It is an entirely different way to use this type of solid image, with Polychromos colored pencilsYou can find the card, and post with details, on my TJ blog post HERE

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I appreciate your visits and your lovely comments.

Spring Card With Distress Oxides Background, Stencil, and Die

Happy Friday!  Today I have a card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  This month we are celebrating spring, with a Think Spring optional theme.  If you do not have any spring-like Penny Black stamps, don't worry.  The theme every month is Anything Goes.  The Think Spring theme is optional, and since I cannot stop thinking about and hoping for spring soon, here is my very 'springy' card....

INSIDE
I used Penny Black stamps, die, and stencil to create my card today.  Many of these are older, and I do not have links to them, for which I apologize.  But, the idea is here, and you can use what stamps/dies etc. you have to create a similar effect.  I do have a link for the stamp used on the inside of the card.  It is from the Penny Black Gifts From Above set.  This is one of my all-time favorite PB stamp sets.

For the background, I rubbed distress oxide inks onto a piece of card stock, and spritzed with water.  I used a sponge applicator to create the streaks on the background.  I repeated adding color and running the sponge diagonally across the card stock panel, until I achieved my desired look.  When this was dry, I placed the floral stencil over the panel, and brushed pink distress ink through the stencil onto the background.

For the smaller background panel, I used an acrylic stamp block.  I added some distress inks from the ink pads onto the block, spritzed it, and tapped it onto a piece of watercolor paper.  I repeated until it looked finished.

I added both panels to a white A2 card front.  I cut the butterfly die from pink card stock, then traced it and fussy cut the shape, and placed it under the die cut.  I rubbed some pink distress ink onto the die cut butterfly to give it more definition.  I added this element to the card front over the background pieces.
I added the verse panel and three little pearls to finish the card front.

Be sure to check out the other designer's cards on the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog.  We have had some very talented new designers join us, so please do stop by and say hello!

I am adding my card to these other challenges:
Make My Monday - In the pink
Penny Black At Allsorts - Spring flowers (on the background)
Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge - Something feminine
The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge

I hope you like my card, and I hope you are inspired to enter our challenge this month.  You just might win a gift certificate to our sponsor, 1,2,3 Stitch!  Hope to see your entry soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.  Enjoy your weekend!

Blessings,
