I have an encouragement card for my #WWDB challenge card at Technique Junkies today. The theme this week is 'Thinking of you.' I figure thinking of you and encouraging you are similar, so I'm going with it!
I just adore this stamp! I have had it for years, and use it often. I had separated the verse from the image, so that it is it's own stamp. That way I can use the giraffe portion of it wherever I want, or not use the verse at all (or use it on the inside).
Technique Junkies stamp link:
Stand Tall
I black embossed the Stand Tall image onto a white A2 card front, keeping it a little in from the left side and bottom of the card. I used my frog tape to create a frame from the card by taping the card about 1/2 inch or so from the edge all the way around.
I placed a crackle layering stencil from my stash over the card, and used distress inks in scattered straw, faded jeans, and peeled paint to add color through the stencil with my ink blending brush applicators (available from Technique Junkies).
When I was satisfied with the intensity, I used the brushes to very lightly go over the entire area.
Then I removed the tape, and Voila! A framed area for my giraffes to live!
I stamped the verse with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink. Some black enamel dots finish the front.
I used the stencil lightly on the envelope, and stamped three of the giraffes, then spattered with watered down black acrylic paint.
Inside, I masked off an area and lightly brushed faint yellow along the edges, then inked the image with the three colors I used on the front, and stamped it in the corner.
That's it. Easy-peasy. This was one of these really fun cards to create. And I feel it is pretty timely right now. I need a few more cards for my church card ministry to send to shut-ins, and I think I will use this. It should bring a smile to a few lonely people!

I'm back with a stamp for Impression Obsession's Old Is New day, where we are featuring IO's older images on our cards.
My card today brings us flowers. Here in the northeast US could use some color in our landscapes. It's been a cool spring so far, and our gardens are just beginning to bloom, ever so slowly.

I stamped the Coneflowers image onto bristol card stock, using a Misti and antique linen distress ink, so that I could do no-line coloring.
With my Polychromos colored pencils, I colored the flower petals and leaves, and shaded in the background. I love these pencils for their blending qualities. They are oil-based instead of wax, so they allow you to create many layers in your coloring, to build up depth and color.
I attached the panel to an A2 card front, and stamped and attached the Hope Is Faith verse, and mounted it with foam tape for dimension.

I stamped the Fairy Love stamp onto a piece of bristol card stock, and colored her with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils, and a water brush. I masked the image, and brushed distress inks over the background. I used a die to cut the image.
For the background, on a white A2 card front, I used distress ink through the dot stencil. I layered the stamped panel onto the card front with craft foam for dimension.
I added the stamped verse from the Special Thoughts set.

Five Fab Phrases Set of 9 SS117 (inside verse)
I stamped the French Text background stamp onto bristol paper with Ranger Archival ink, and brushed on some distress ink, and added some dabs of distress ink here and there. I tore the right edge, and lined it with distress ink, and rolled two of the corners. I attached a coral ribbon, and attached this panel to a coral panel, the size of an A2 card, then attached it to a card front.
I used the Misti to stamp the Tulip With Text, adding color to the stamp with Arteza real brush markers. I show how I do this technique in the second part of my YouTube video HERE, with another card.
I kept adding different shades of the colors, then used a damp brush to pull some of the color through the image. I repeated this stamping and painting technique until I was happy with the finished tulip.
I fussy-cut the tulip, and added it to the card front.
Inside, I stamped some of the phrase elements from the Five Fab Phrases set, and portions of the French Text.
Card 2: Being A Family

I stamped the Being A Family stamp onto ivory card stock, and colored the leaves with Polychromos colored pencils.
I gave them a little more color, and a more spring-like look, by adding
some pale yellow tones to the leaves, in addition to two or three shades of green.
I also used Polychromos colored pencils to outline the scripted letters, just to carry some of the color through the card to create balance.
I added some twine, and a die-cut butterfly.
Inside, I lightly stamped a piece of the leaves, colored it with my Polychromos, and added a butterfly die-cut. I added a strip of the same green as the front panel.

Today I would like to share my card for Week 2, Day 7, of the Technique Junkies What We Do Best, #WWDB Challenge. The theme this week is Get Well.
I know this is a Christmas cactus, and it's the end of April. However, my 'Christmas cactus' did not bloom at Christmas. It bloomed at Easter! So, that begs the question, 'Is it a Christmas cactus, or an Easter cactus.' More on my cactus later in the post if you care to read my story.

Difficult Time, Set of 2
I started with watercolor paper, and stamped the Christmas Cactus onto the panel, using VersaFine Clair nocturne ink.
I used Arteza Real Brush markers to watercolor the image. I cannot say enough about these markers. I use them for many of my projects. They are bold, intense, and loaded with color. The real brush nib is a bit longer than most, which comes in very handy when you have a large area to color. On watercolor paper, or bristol, they blend exquisitely. There are many ways to use these markers.
For this card, I used them directly from the pen, and also in some areas, with a waterbrush. I really let myself go with this one, as I wanted to push my limits a bit. I LOVE color, and usually tend to keep my cards a bit tame, but I went a bit outside the box color-wise with this one.
When the watercoloring was dry, I used blending brush applicators, available at Technique Junkies, with distress inks to make a soft, haze around the image. I did this by creating a mask for the cactus, then brushing on the color lightly.
I stamped the French Text stamp with shabby shutters distress ink, and stamped it very lightly to create a subtle script background.
Some touching up with white colored pencil and some spatters finish off the front. I added it to an ivory A2 card front.
Inside: I stamped the cactus image with distress ink, and the verse from the Difficult Time, Set of 2 stamp set. Another must have set for so many types of cards. It works really well when you want to send a get well card to someone who has a terminal or chronic illness or disease.

And if you're still with me, I will share how my 'Christmas cactus' has blessed me through the years. My dad gave me a small one that he had started from clippings from his huge cactus. He and my mom both died when I was barely 30. Suffice to say, that was a good many years ago! I loved that cactus, and nurtured it. It matured through the years, and became a huge addition to my indoor plants.
I have started many other cc plants from clippings from mine, and also from my dad's, which I had inherited. I have given away several plants, and started a few more for myself. The original stays on our sunporch, the rest reside in the garden in pots. In late fall, they come into our basement, where I prune and care for them through the winter months, until they debut again in spring.
My heart smiles when I look at my cactus, and when it blooms (sometimes around Christmas, and sometimes in the spring), it brings me much joy and brings back loving memories.

Berries Panel

I love this stamp. It can be used for any season, just by changing up the colors!
I stamped the Berries Panel onto bristol card. I used Ranger Archival Ink in cobalt blue to stamp the image.
I used Polychromos colored pencils to add shades of blue, and some white for highlights. I stamped the Get Well Soon verse with the same cobalt blue.
I used my brush applicators to add some Faber Castell soft pastels around the image. I felt this sort of 'grounds' it, and adds a softness to the card.
Some layering onto lavender, then onto an A2 blue card, finishes it.
For the inside, I stamped with white pigment ink.

I absolutely love this Skeleton Leaf Stencil. It's great for a full-card background, or to use portions of it on a smaller card. Add a verse, or a stamped image and a verse, and you've got an easy card.

For details on how I made this card, please see the video. It's a lot to write down as directions. Basically, I used the stencil on watercolor paper. I inked the stencil with distress inks, flipped it over onto watercolor paper, and pressed it down with a towel.

For the inside, I used the stencil in the normal way, by brushing ink through the stencil. The butterfly was done in my Misti, with Arteza Real Brush Pens, and distress inks.
