Hello, and welcome!
The lovely poinsettia is an elegant flower, and the perfect one to use for a birthday card for someone whose birthday falls right around Christmas, don't you think?
I created my background for this card by brushing Tim Holtz distress inks onto 110 lb. white card stock, using my Clarity stencil brushes. I love the soft airbrush feel these brushes give, and how easily they blend from one color to the next.
I attached the panel to a top-fold card slightly larger than A2.
For the flowers and leaves, I white embossed Essentials By Ellen's Mondo Poinsettia stamps and leaves onto white 110 lb. white card stock. I used the Clarity stencil brushes to brush Tim Holtz distress inks onto the flowers and leaves, blending colors as I applied them. The color variances do not show so well in the photo, as they do in real life. I embossed Happy Birthday, from Essentials by Ellen's 'Lovely' clear set.
For the flower centers, I used FineTec gold paints. I also took some of the gold paint, and mixed it with water, then brushed it over the petals and leaves, which gave them some gold shimmer.
Here is a close-up which shows some of the shimmer. The photo does not do it justice!
I fussy-cut and attached the flowers and leaves with glue dots. Some sparkling crystals by Studio Katia finish off my card tonight.
I am adding my card to these challenges:
