Sun Kisses With Colored Pencil Bokeh

Today I thought I would try a new technique, to me.  Bokeh is not new, but I had never tried it in colored pencil.  So, here's what happened....
 STAMPS:  Sunflower Duo
               Sunflower Sentiments (set of 2)

These stamps are part of the Technique Junkies June new release hop.

If you simply must have them, just use my code, TJ10Lynda, at the Technique Junkies store.  Today is the last day to get 15% off the new release stamps.  Use my code, and also get 10% off products and other stamps.

So...onto my card details:

I began this card with a panel of 110# white card stock.  I stamped the sunflower duo on the panel with black India Ink, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils.

I used my colored pencils to create the bokeh background.  I watched many videos on the technique, and mostly followed this You-Tube video by RavenFox.  I did a couple of practice pieces first, to decide on the colors I wanted to use.  Here's a close-up view.....

And the inside of the card....
A little layering, and the sentiment layered up with foam tape and a bit of twine, and a sunflower charm from my stash finish off the card.

Hope I've inspired you.  I encourage you to try something new to you.  I'm glad I did.  I need lots more practice, but it is a great way to get some new techniques in my repertoire!

Stop by and say hello to the Design Team, and check out the amazing inspiration there.

I'm so glad you stopped by today.  Thanks for visiting, and for your comments.  I look forward to each and every one.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Sunflower Blessings!

Popping in with a quick card from my design team cards from Splitcoaststampers.
On an A2 card base, I adhered patterned paper, and distressed the edges.   I embossed the sunflower (Stampendous) on smooth bristol paper and water colored with distress inks.  For the background panel piece, I sponged distress inks and added background stamps (Penny Black).

I fussy-cut the flower along the right edge, and added the panel with foam tape to the card.

I added two coats of Ranger Glossy Accents to the ladybug, and embossed the Our Daily Bread Designs verse and adhered with foam tape.  Some twine and a ladybug charm finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I enjoy your visits and love reading your comments.

I am adding this to The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge.

Heavenly Mansions

I'm sharing this little sneak peak - a part of my Bible Journaling Page for John 14:2.  The full page, and my brief insights, are posted on my blog, A Little Perspective; Living in Joy, Hope, and Grace.

I would love for you to hop on over there and visit, and let me know your thoughts.

I used Derwent Inktense pencils for my drawings.

Thanks for taking the time to look.  I do appreciate your comments!

Map Collage Father's Day Card

Are you enjoying the Technique Junkies June release blog hop?  If you have not visited the hop yet, be sure to stop over and say hello, and check out the amazing inspiration of the TJ design team.  HERE's the link to the hop.

For Father's Day, I made this card for my hubby....

STAMP:  MAP COLLAGE

Like this stamp?  Yep, it's all one glorious stamp!  You can get it HERE at the Technique Junkies store, at a 15% discount until June 8th!  Be sure to use my code, TJ10Lynda.  Any non-release stamps or other products you purchase will also be 10% off with my code.
CLOSE UP
I started with a panel of Strathmore bristol smooth card stock, and used Tim Holtz distress inks in browns and blues, with the ink applicators, to sponge on color where I thought the land and water would be when I stamped the image.

I stamped the image with Ranger archival ink in the color 'coffee.'  I used my Misti to stamp the image, as I wanted to be able to stamp it over again until the image was the depth I wanted it to be.

I used a gold Krylon pen to add the gilded edge around the image and around my hand-written father's day verse.  I dyed some baker's string by running it through a blue distress pad, and tied on an anchor charm from my stash.

That's it!  Easy-peasy.

Oh, and the baker's string, well, every once in a while I must make the sacrifice to go to our town bakery for their delish cake squares - JUST to get the string that they generously tie around the little boxes.  Really...that's the only reason I buy them!  Hey...we gotta get our craft supplies somewhere, right?

Don't forget to enter the Technique Junkies Challenge HERE!  You might just win yourself a $25 TJ gift certificate!  You have until June 10th to enter.  Check out the details at the above link.  If you would like more information about what an ATC is, you can read all about it and see some samples at MY POST HERE.

Up And Away Birthday Wishes Hedgehog!

What's cuter than a Penny Black hedgehog?  A Penny Black hedgehog floating with a balloon, of course!!
STAMPS:  Penny Black Balloon Hedgehog 1720J and Live It Up 30-259

I stamped the balloon hedgehog onto a white A2 card.  I colored him and the balloon with Arteza real brush markers and watercolor.  For the verse, I stamped it with Ranger archival ink.

Some light brushing of Tim Holtz distress ink along the edges, fading to inside, finish off this card!
I had to stop myself from adding 'stuff' to jazz it up a little, as I wanted to keep it one layer and CAS!

Stop by at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge to see the rest of the Design Team's inspiration!  Hope you'll play along.  You have until July 6th to enter.  Use Penny Black stamps for a chance to win a $20 voucher from 1,2,3 Stitch

Technique Junkies June New Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Technique Junkies June New Release Blog Hop!   If you are here from Beth Norman's blog
you are in the right place.  If not, head on over to the Technique Junkies blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

When you make your list, remember that all of the June new release stamps are 15% off until June 8th!  Your discount will be applied at checkout.  To get 10% off any non-release stamps, please use my code TJ10Lynda.

Now, pour yourself a cuppa, sit back, relax, and enjoy the hop!  I have a couple of cards to share today, with a little sneak peak of more to come soon.
Card 1....
 STAMP:  Flamingo
As you can see, this is a single flamingo stamp.  For my card, I stamped the flamingo (the one in the center), then masked it, and stamped one on the left and one on the right.  When I removed the mask, the magic of three walking flamingos appeared.  Tip - the 'full sticky' Post-It notes work very well for making masks....and the flamingo fits on it except the very bottom part of the legs, which I didn't need to have masked anyways.

I watercolored the images with Gansai Tambi watercolors.  When dry, I used VersaMarker pen over the images, then added clear embossing powder and clear-embossed the colored flamingos.  I did this in order to create my background without disturbing the ink on the images, so it would not run.  I also like the way the embossing makes them 'pop.'

Close up
I used Tim Holtz distress inks and the ink applicator to blend my background colors, and added some swirls to the water with the distress marker.  I decided to save the verse for the inside of the card.  I mounted the panel onto a black card base to frame in the scene.

Card 2....
STAMPS:  Mermaid Kisses - set of 5

I created the background on Strathmore bristol vellum with Arteza watercolor pencils.  I added various blues and greens onto the bristol, then activated with water.  I used sweeping motions with the brush to create the water.
For the sandy bottom, I used the watercolor pencils also (on a separate piece), then cut it out and added it to the bottom of the panel.  I hand drew the seaweedy things 9like that word?) with colored pencil.  The verse (from the same set) was stamped with black India Ink.

The mermaid and starfish were stamped separately and water colored with the watercolor pencils also, then fussy-cut and added with foam dimensional tape.
A few clear droplets from Studio Katia to finish off the card.  Then a black layer and onto a blue card.  Don't tell anyone...but I kinda messed up the card by mounting the layer incorrectly...it opens from left to right instead of right to left.  I'll give it to my daughter, since she is a 'lefty!'

From here, hop on over to  Pat Huntoon's blog for more inspiring ideas with her release projects.

And remember, to get 10% off non-release stamps to use with the new release stamps, which are 15% off until June 8th, Just use my code TJ10Lynda.

Here's a 'sneak peak' at more of my cards to come for this release during the next couple of weeks....

A Couple of Flower Themed ATC's

I made a couple of ATC's to share for the Technique Junkies Challenge this month.  The challenge is to make a flower themed Artist Trading Card.  You can enter as often as you like, and you have until June 10th.  The prize is a $25 gift certificate to Technique Junkies.  You must use Technique Junkies to be eligible for a prize, but can use any stamps to play.  So, come on over and join us HERE for the challenge.

These are my two inspiration cards to get you started....(details of each below)

Several people have inquired about ATC's...what are they, what do you do with them, what are the dimensions, rules, etc?  So, I thought I would answer these questions.

-ATC's are Artist Trading Cards.  They are tiny little works of art.
-They are created on card stock, watercolor paper, bristol, just about anything that can be stamped on, painted, or drawn on.
-The dimensions of an ATC are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".
-You can use any medium you desire on an ATC.  There are really no rules, except the size.
- There are ATC challenges online and at many stamp stores.  Also swaps and even Facebook groups.
-Some people and groups trade their ATC's.  Others just collect them, and organize them in photo albums, journals, etc.  They can also be incorporated into cards.  I have needed a card on occasion, quickly, because that's how I roll, and have attached one of my finished ATC's to a card front, added some script and/or background, and Voila!  Five minute card!

Now...onto how I made my two ATC's....
Stamps:  Technique Junkies Calendula
              Technique Junkies Van Gogh's Letter

I stamped a portion of the Calendula stamp onto a white card stock ATC with Memento black ink.  I colored it with Copic markers.  For the background, I used Copics for the blue, and distress ink to stamp parts of the VanGogh's Letter stamp intermittently.
I added a narrow strip of black card stock, and a strip of black and white striped patterned paper over it.
In the centers of the flower, I added some tiny black beads with Ranger multi-medium glue.
CLOSE UP OF DETAIL & BEADS
 Card two....
STAMPS:  Technique Junkies VanGogh's Letter
              Technique Junkies Growing Wild

On white bristol ATC-sized card stock, I used Distress Oxide inks to create my background.  When dry, I black-embossed a portion of the Growing Wild stamp.  Then I stamped portions of the VanGogh's letter in blue intermittently on the background.  A few dots of purple Stickles add some dimension and glitter, and a shimmery bit of purple metallic embroidery floss make a pretty shiny bow to tie it up!

That's it.  Hope you will join us in this fun challenge this month.  If you do some shopping in the Technique Junkies store, be sure to use my code TJ10Lynda to get 10% off your entire purchase!
