Flower Field

It's Saturday, and time for my Penny Black Saturday Challenge card for our mid-way reminder.

Penny Black stamps:
Flower Fields
Gifts From Above

This month's challenge is Anything goes with optional theme of partial stamping.  I used a small portion of the Penny Black Flower Fields stamp for my main image on my card.

I inked the flowers in my Misti, using mini distress ink pads to ink them.

I used various older PB stamps on the background, after brushing on some distress ink to soften the white.  The verse is from the Gifts From Above set 30-429.

And here is the inside:

Outta This World Birthday Wishes

Hello, and welcome!  I'm taking a break from my gardening to post a card for some challenges today.  It's getting breezy and cooler, and we are supposed to have thunderstorms, so I think they may be here shortly.  Great time to play in my art room!
Stamps (Impression-Obsession):
Outta This World Set CL959
Circle Frame 2 H12066

http://shrsl.com/1nk98I am loving this Outta This World clear stamp set!  It has so many fun elements, and really stamps beautifully.  Great for a kid's or male card, or just plain fun card.

For the background, I started with mixed media card stock, and used sponge daubers to add distress inks.  I then added water droplets to create the watermark areas.  Then flicked more water to get some smaller spots, and used a towel to pick up the water.  I love the way this creates those white watermark areas in the background.

When the panel was dry, I stamped the Circle Frame with Ranger Archival ink in cobalt.  I then stamped the verse with VersaFine Claire Nocturne ink.

I stamped the rocketship, watercolored it with distress inks, and fussy-cut it , adding it to the panel with foam tape for dimension.  I attached the whole shebang to a white A2 card front.

INSIDE

Inside:  Stamped the 'martian' and other elements, and colored with Copic markers.

I hope you like this cute little card.  I had fun creating with this adorable set.

I am adding my card to these challenges:
Allsorts Challenge - Fantasy world
Paper Funday Challenge - For the guys
Seize The Birthday - Anything goes
Pile It On  - Travel

Thanks for stopping by today.  I appreciate your visits and comments.

Impression-Obsession Old Is New - Retro Owls

Welcome to Old Is New Day at Impression-Obsession!  All of the designers have created a project using an older stamp from the IO website.  We enjoy showing our oldies but goodies some inky love.  You can see the other designer's posts on the IO blog HERE.

For my card today, I am going retro.  Retro Owls, that is!
Stamps:
Retro Owls D2413
Owl Leaves H2370
Hang In There D13783 (this one is from the summer release)

I started with bristol card stock, and stamped the Owl Leaves H2370 onto it, using my Misti and distress inks.   I kept the panel in the Misti while I watercolored it with a damp brush.  I pulled the color out with the brush, then added some other colors to get the look I wanted.  When it dried (OK...I dried it with my heat tool because I'm impatient), I re-stamped the image a couple of times to darken the lines.

I created the background with distress inks, brushing them on carefully.

I colored the Retro Owls D2413 owl in the same fashion, fussy-cut it, and added it with foam tape.  The verse, Hang In There, was stamped in Ranger Archival ink.

Some sparkling crystals finish off the card front.

I hope you are inspired by my card today.  Be sure to check out the other designer's cards HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I look forward to your visits and comments, and appreciate you spending time here.

Impression-Obsession Challenge - I'll Drink To That

Welcome to the 'I'll Drink To That' challenge at Impression-Obsession.  You can find links to all the designer's project posts, as well as details about the challenge, on the Impression-Obsession blog HERE.

For my card today, I was thinking summer.  And margaritas!
Stamps:
Margaritas To Go F2373
Simple Pleasures B5539
Sweet Lemonade E2306
Life Stuff Sentiments CL491

I really had fun with these stamps.  I started with bristol vellum, and stamped the Margaritas To Go F2373 onto it, then colored it with Polychromos colored pencils.

I brushed some twisted citron distress ink around the pitcher, then I used the Scribble Rose stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and added more color.

I created the verse panel with the Simple Pleasures B5539 verse, added a strip of black & white pp, and some picked raspberry distressing, then foam mounted it to the panel.  I also added the umbrella, which is from the Sweet Lemonade E2306 set.  A strip of the same pp along the left edge finish the panel.  I attached it to an A2 card front, and added a few sequins.

Inside:  The verse is from the Life Stuff Sentiments CL491 set.

I hope you will join us in this challege.  You have until June 18th to enter your card/s.  The prize is a $25 gift certificate to the Impression-Obsession store.  And, if you win, your card will be featured on the IO blog.  So, get inky and come on over and play!

I am adding my card to these challenges:
The Library Challenge - book The Art of Stripes
The Paper Players - Summer Vacation
Watercooler Challenges  - Feminine anything goes

Die Cut Obsession at Impression-Obsession - Lily Trio Card Set

Today the Impression-Obsession Design Team has some inspiration for you on the IO blog, focusing on dies.  You can find the blog, along with links to the other designer's blogs, HERE.

I have made a set of five cards for my post today, each using the Lily Trio Die set.  I have shown each card individually below so you can see them in full view.

The main element on each of my cards is the same set of floral dies, Lily Trio DIE513-T.  The dies and stamps I used are listed below with the card that features them.

The backgrounds of each card were created in the same way.  I used Arteza watercolor paper and Tim Holtz distress oxide inks.  I saw this done on a blog post by Brenda Brown on her Country View Craft's Projects blog.   I loved what she did, and decided to try it.  I was hooked!  So, I contacted Brenda, and asked if I could use her technique and share it on my blog.  She kindly said yes, so here it is.  You can find Brenda's post HERE, with her full directions.  I varied mine slightly for my purposes here.

To create the background, I made puddles of distress oxide inks in three shades of each of the two colors of backgrounds.  On my craft mat, I rubbed the stamp pads onto the mat, then spritzed with lots of water.   I dipped  the card panels into the mixture, drying between and repeating until I achieved the desired look.

The next part is the key.  Gesso!  Yep, I just added a dab of gesso to my craft mat, mixed with lots of water until it was smooth, then dragged the panels through.  You could substitute white acrylic paint if you don't have gesso. This created the white cloudy look to the panels.  I repeated until it looked the way I wanted.

When everything was dry, I lightly stamped some elements from the Spring Leaves Set WP838 onto the panels, and spritzed so they would be faint and feather out.  On some, I also stamped the Beauty Text CC142.

I cut several flowers from the Lily Trio, and also dipped them into the distress oxide puddles to add the color.

I cut the flowers from acetate, and used the negative to sponge some of the distress ink through and get the images onto the panel, as well.  They look like stamps of the same dies!

The rest is adding other dies, stamps, and elements to create each card.

Card 5:

Phew!  That's  it.  Sorry for the long, long post, but I was really excited about this technique, and wanted to share it with you.

You can find all of these dies and stamps through the above links at the Impression-Obsession store

I hope you liked my projects and were inspired.  Don't forget to visit the other designer's blogs.  You can find their links HERE.  For more in-depth instructions, with pictures, be sure to check out Brenda's post HERE.

Send Forth Your Light

Welcome to my blog this Sunday morning.  It's my turn to post on the Technique Junkies blog today, and I decided to use the Vintage Lighthouse from the TJ new June stamp release.
I stamped the Vintage Lighthouse onto my Bible journal page, using Tombow markers to ink my stamp.  I used Polychromos colored pencils to add color.  Tombow markers do not bleed through the page when used on a stamp.  The Polychromos go onto the surface beautifully, and blend nicely on the thin Bible paper.  And, most importantly to me, I can still read the scriptures through my art work.

For the journaling, I hand-lettered the verse.  I use Sakura Micron pens for my journaling.  They do not bleed through the pages.

Full details of my techniques are on my blog post at the Technique Junkies blog HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you find some time enjoy today...this is the day the Lord has made!

I am adding my card to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge.

Blessings,
