I have made a set of five cards for my post today, each using the Lily Trio Die set. I have shown each card individually below so you can see them in full view.
The main element on each of my cards is the same set of floral dies, Lily Trio DIE513-T. The dies and stamps I used are listed below with the card that features them.
The backgrounds of each card were created in the same way. I used Arteza watercolor paper and Tim Holtz distress oxide inks. I saw this done on a blog post by Brenda Brown on her Country View Craft's Projects blog. I loved what she did, and decided to try it. I was hooked! So, I contacted Brenda, and asked if I could use her technique and share it on my blog. She kindly said yes, so here it is. You can find Brenda's post HERE, with her full directions. I varied mine slightly for my purposes here.
To create the background, I made puddles of distress oxide inks in three shades of each of the two colors of backgrounds. On my craft mat, I rubbed the stamp pads onto the mat, then spritzed with lots of water. I dipped the card panels into the mixture, drying between and repeating until I achieved the desired look.
The next part is the key. Gesso! Yep, I just added a dab of gesso to my craft mat, mixed with lots of water until it was smooth, then dragged the panels through. You could substitute white acrylic paint if you don't have gesso.This created the white cloudy look to the panels. I repeated until it looked the way I wanted.
When everything was dry, I lightly stamped some elements from the Spring Leaves Set WP838 onto the panels, and spritzed so they would be faint and feather out. On some, I also stamped the Beauty Text CC142.
I cut several flowers from the Lily Trio, and also dipped them into the distress oxide puddles to add the color.
I cut the flowers from acetate, and used the negative to sponge some of the distress ink through and get the images onto the panel, as well. They look like stamps of the same dies!
The rest is adding other dies, stamps, and elements to create each card.
