Anniversary Birds

Hubby and I will celebrate our 37th anniversary tomorrow!   I knew immediately what stamps I wanted to use on his anniversary card....Tim Holtz's Bird Crazy, of course!
I altered the birds a bit.  I added eyelids and eyebrows to both, eye lashes to the purple one (me), and glasses to the green one (Dan).  Then I watercolored the birds with distress inks, and cut them out.
For the background I rubbed some inks on a piece of acrylic, spritzed it lightly, then rubbed it across the watercolor paper.  I used foam tape behind the birds to give them dimension.  The "you" is die cut and layered to give it dimension, then hand-printed the rest.  Finally, I added dimensional glaze to the glasses and the die cut "you."

I gave him his card early, because I just couldn't wait.  He loved it!

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp blog Wednesday challenge HERE.   The theme is Friends or super hero.  After 37 years, I would say we are friends!

I am also entering it in Virginia's View ombre inspiration challenge HERE.   The theme is monochromatic or ombre.

Finally, it is Day Ten of The Daily Marker Coloring challenge, so I'm sending it along there.

Thanks for stopping by.

Another Magenta Card

Another card for The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge.  I used another Magenta stamp.  I love the Queen Anne's Lace silhouette straddling the color panel and the white card.  I used distress inks to create the color panel, and also spattered the colors onto the white part.

Thank you for stopping by.  I will be back tomorrow with another card.  See you then.

Nature Colors Card

Today's 30 Day Coloring Challenge Card for The Daily Marker started out with the smoosh technique background.  Then I picked a Magenta stamp and watercolored the flowers with distress inks in the same colors I used for the background.  I am entering this card in the Defi/Challenge Magenta challenge, where the theme is Summertime.  Nothing speaks summer more than brightly colored flowers in bloom!  The quote is one from my stash, on acetate, which I attached to some of the background paper I made.
I'm keeping dry on this soggy day, making cards and playing in my art journal.  I have a busy week, so am trying to get a few cards made ahead.

I will post another card this evening...trying to catch up to the Color Challenge.  See you later!

Art Journal Page

It's June, and time for another Coloring Challenge from The Daily Marker!  You can check out the details on the blog at www.thedailymarker.blogspot.com.

I'm a little late getting started.  I have been working on a massive project in my craft room.  Now that it is finished, I have been working on cards and projects for the challenge.  I made a few, and finally got around to taking the pictures, and now posting them to my blog.
My first entry is an art journal page.  I have an art journal for my Zentangles, and had played around with starting one for my ink/stamp/marker/painting interests, but never seriously did much about it....a couple of weak starts, then nothing.  Well, all that changed this week when my friend, Karen, called me gushing about her very first art journal page....which was exquisite!!  She got me excited too, and I sat right down and made this.
I used multi medium card stock, and Tim Holtz distress inks, glitter, markers, and stencils and stamps, along with some hand lettering.  I have not decided what form my art journal will take yet.  I like the moleskin journals, but I also like the freedom of no binding.  I'm leaning towards just continuing on individual sheets like this, and figuring out how I will bind them (or not) down the road.  Any thoughts?  If you art journal, what format do you use?

I will be back tomorrow with a couple of cards.   It is day seven of the challenge already!  I will post  couple of cards on some days so I can catch up.

Hope you are finding time to play!
Blessings,
