Love Card With Polychromos

It's Thursday, and since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I thought I would share a 'love' themed card for some valentine inspiration.

Stamps:  Love Squared E12114
              Mini Gingham Cover-A-Card CC373
Sweet Bunny Set WP927 (flower from set)

I created the background panel using the Mini Gingham stamp and some pink distress ink, then rounded the corners and attached it to a tan A2 card front.

I stamped the Mini Gingham Cover-A-Card image onto white card stock, trimmed it, and colored with Polychromos colored pencils.  A little distressing around the edges with the pink ink, then attached it to the gingham stamped panel.

I tied some narrow ribbon around with a triple bow, then attached the panel to the card with foam tape for extra dimension.

Inside:  I used the rest of the gingham panel I had previously created, and attached it to the inside of the card.  Then stamped the flower images from the  Sweet Bunny Set.

Thanks for coming to my blog today.  I appreciate your visits,  and enjoy your encouraging comments.

Valentine's Day Card With Real Brush Markers and Dies

Happy Monday!  January has only five days left!  We are about half way through winter.  Here's hoping spring will come early this year!

I have a Valentine card on my blog today, featuring some new stamps from the In Love With Spring 2020 release collection.  You can find the selection of these stamps/dies HERE.
Here is my card for today....

Stamps/Die Links:
Heart Lolly D23066
Sweet Beautiful You B13114
Love DIE385-B

I stamped the Heart Lolly onto Bristol vellum card stock.  I masked the image, then stamped it again, so one lolly is somewhat behind the other.

To add color to the images, I used Arteza Real Brush markers and a water brush.  I love the bright, intense colors these markers can give when used full strength.  And when used with water, they have a softer look.  They blend beautifully.

I white embossed the Sweet Beautiful You verse onto a black card stock scrap, and added it with foam tape.

I cut the Love die, colored it with the same markers, and added it, cutting another in black and layering it so that it was offset, to complement the black of the verse strip.

A few colorful spatters, and some layering onto an A2 card front finish the front of the card.

Inside:
I stamped and colored another Heart Lolly and fussy-cut it, adding it to the inside of the card.  I hand-drew some squiggly lines and some doodling to create a verse area for a personal note.
That's it!  Easy-peasy!!

On a personal note, I'm finally almost recovered from a very bad virus that I've had since before Christmas!  I'm back now, in full swing again.   I have missed my craft room, but had absolutely no energy or strength.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I appreciate your visits and comments.

Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession Valentine's Day Card

Today is Die Cut Obsession Day at Impression Obsession!  I decided to go Valentine's with my card today.
IO Dies/Stamp:
Eyelet Primitive Hearts DIE925-ZZ
Heart Border DIE920-P
Happy Valentine's Day B5410

I love cream with red!  I added a die cut Heart Border to a cream A2 card front.  Then I added a die cut Eyelet Primitive heart in deep red.  The stitching detail on these eyelet hearts really give them a home-spun feel, don't you think?

The Happy Valentine's Day verse adds just a smidge of black.

A sheer ribbon and satin flower (which I had colored with a Copic marker to match the ribbon) top off the whole shebang.  This reminds me of one of those heart shaped boxes of chocolate!  Yummmm!

Be sure to check out the other designer's posts on the IO blog HERE!

Something New Penny Black Saturday Challenge Card

Greetings my lovelies!  Happy Saturday!  Today I have a card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  The theme is always 'Anything Goes,' and today's optional extra is 'Something New.'  My 'something new' is a new-to-me technique.
I used the Penny Black stencil Flower Dance, and the verse is from the PB clear set Faith 30-409.
The background stamps are older PB stamps from my stash.

My something new is a new-to-me technique.  Actually, a different twist on a technique I saw on Kathy Racoosin's blog, The Daily Marker.

Kathy does fantastic things with colored pencils after stamping and/or stenciling.   I kept mine a little simpler by using limited colors, and only a very light layer of antique linen distress ink.  Then I went directly to colored pencils, instead of more ink colors.   I created the flowers by stenciling them on a light blue panel with antique linen distress ink.  This is just to get the shapes down.  This differs from Kathy's technique somewhat, but hers is what inspired mine.

I used Polychromos colored pencils to color over the stenciled images, adding highlights and shading as I deemed appropriate.  I added some background second and third generation stamping, and some distressing along the edges.

I really love this technique, and will be using it a lot.  Thanks, Kathy, for always giving us fun, fresh, and exciting ideas!

Inside:
Thanks so much for visiting today.  I hope to see you in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge!  You have until January 31st to show us your 'something new.'  You just might win a prize!!

Thank you for visiting today.  I am off today with my hubby to meet our potential adoptee....a little calico rescue kitty.  I'm trying not to get too excited and get my hopes up.  A few people are interested in her, so we all go today to meet kitty.  The foster mom will pick one of us (by Tuesday) to take kitty and be her new people.  Fingers and toes crossed, and prayers for the right decision.

I am adding my card to these other challenges:
Allsorts Challenge  - More than a single word sentiment
Penny Black At Allsorts - Make it feminine
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Use a stencil
Simply Less Is More - One layer off center
Paper Funday Challenge  - Anything goes friendship twist
Time Out Challenges  - Item in your wardrobe (blue floral dress)

Enjoy your weekend!

Blessings,

Have A Heart Impression Obsession Challenge

It's time for a new challenge at Impression Obsession.  The theme this time is Have A Heart.  I knew exactly which stamp I was going to use for this one!

Froggie Love E21241
Be Mine B20803
Everything Happy D20799 (inside)
Mini Hearts Row DIE134-D

I love, love, love this froggie image from the new Valentine release!  He really stole my heart!

I inked the Froggie Love with antique linen distress ink, and stamped it onto Canson XL bristol recycled.  I colored him with Polychromos colored pencils.

I added some distress ink around the edges softly, a pretty satin ribbon and bow, and some die cut hearts.  I layered it onto a red panel, then onto a white A2 card front.

I layered the Be Mine verse, which I had stamped onto a white scrap and cut into a tag, then added to card with some foam tape for dimension.

Inside:  Everything Happy

Be sure to check out the other designer's posts for their projects for this challenge.  You can find their links HERE.

I had so much fun making this card!  I do love frogs!  And this one's a cutie, for sure!

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your visits and your comments.

Shimmering Bliss Sprays With Embossing

Today was a day to play and get messy.  I decided to have some fun with my Shimmering Bliss sprays from Technique Junkies.
I started with some watercolor paper, and sprayed some Shimmering Bliss on it.  I use a large, shallow box when I do this, to contain the spray excess.  I sprayed another color while the first was still wet.  I used a lot, and let it drip down the card.

I dried that with my heat tool, then added another color, and let that drip.  I kept adding more colors, until I was happy with the look I got.

I really LOVE the way this stuff just shimmers.  Each way you turn the card reveals different areas of color with their own sparkle and shimmer.  Fascinating!  And oh so fun to play with!

I let this dry (ok...I was impatient, and used my heat tool to hurry it along), then embossed the butterfly and the verse with black.  A little layering, and that was that.

I used these Technique Junkies stamps:
Modern Encouragements Set of 4 (You are amazing)
Something Different (butterfly)

I hope you are enjoying the stamps from the January release.  The Modern Encouragements Set of 4 is one of my personal favorites from this release.  It has unique phrases, with fabulous fonts, for bold statements!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I enjoy your visits and comments.

Someone Cares Card With Calico Background

Happy Monday, my lovelies!  I have a fun, springy, happy card to share today, featuring stamps from the new In Love With Spring Release.

Impression Obsession Stamps Links:
Flower Poppy E12192
Flower Petunia E12193
Someone Cares D13888
Calico CAC Background CC393

I am having so much fun with this Calico CAC background!  It stamps beautifully, and I'm just crazy about the tiny little flowers.  It reminds me of a dress I had all too many years ago!

I stamped the background with blue ink onto a white A2 card front, then added some black card stock strips along the left side.

I stamped the Someone Cares  verse onto a white scrap and embossed it, then lined it with black card stock, and added it to the card front.

On Strathmore bristol card stock, I embossed the Flower Poppy and Flower Petunia , then colored them using my Arteza Real Brush markers and a waterbrush for a watercolor look.  I fussy-cut the flowers and added them with foam tape for extra dimension.

Since the background is so gorgeous, and pretty busy, I decided to forgo embellishing further.

Inside of card:

I hope your week is starting off well.  Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.  I appreciate your visits and your comments.

Impression Obsession In Love With Spring Release Hop Celebration - Day Six

Here we are, at the final day of the In Love With Spring release!  I have two sets of cards for you today.  The other two designers with projects today are Dina and Susan.  You can find links to their posts HERE.

Set One features some of the fabulous new flower dies.
IO stamps/dies links
Stitched Flower DIE936-C
Stitched Tulip DIE938-E
Mid-Size Frame DIE930-Z
Hugs DIE516A
See The Light C13785
French Text CAC CC151

I used distress inks to create papers for backgrounds for both cards.  I also created some fun paper using the 'smoosh watercolor technique' with distress inks for cutting dies.

On the first card, I used one of the background panels on a white A2 card, then cut the dies from the smoosh paper.  I used a brush applicator to apply distress ink through the 'stencil' which I made with my flower dies, then brushed distress ink along the edges and inside.

I added the die cut flowers over the ones I had 'stenciled in,' then stamped the See The Light verse in brown Ranger Archival ink.  I attached the panel to the other watercolored paneled card front.  Some spatters finish the front.
For card two, I used a blended distress ink background, then stamped the CAC French Text onto the blue die cut frame, and white card stock 'inside' the negative tulip die.  I layered all, with the addition of the hugs die.

Set two features our Bunny Bea and Bunny Bob adorable stamps....
IO stamp links:
G12208 Bunny Bea
F12207 Bunny Bob
Hello C20810
Mini Gingham CAC background CC373
Love DIE271-D
Half Inch Buttons DIE926-I

I just have to smile when I look at these stamps!  The are so fun to color, and I used my Polychromos colored pencils on both cards.  I masked Bunny Bea, and used distress ink with a mandala stencil for the background on the first card.  I added the Love die cut, and some die cut little hearts.

For the second card, I distressed the borders of the Bunny Bob panel, then layered it onto black, then onto a panel onto which I had stamped the very handy Mini Gingham CAC background.  All went onto a gray card base.

I added the Hello on some scrap white, with foam tape, then some buttons.  I stacked three button die cuts to give them dimension.  For the 'thread,' I used very thin sliver strips of black card stock.

Here are the cards a bit larger...

I hope you have enjoyed the In Love With Spring Release Hop Celebration at Impression Obsession.  Don't forget to leave comments here and on the other designer's blogs to be eligible for one of the $25 gift certificates.  Each designer has one to give away.  Deadline for comments is January 12th.  Winners will be announced January 14th.

Good luck, and as usual, I really appreciate your visits and comments.

Blessings,
