 It's time to brush off some of our older stamps and share some inspiration with you.  I am returning, once again, to one of my very favorite oldies for my card today.

 How I made my card:

• I 'inked' the Fancy Leaves stamp in my Misti, using Arteza real brush pens on the leaves, and stamped it onto bristol card stock.  
• I added the background panel to a layer of card stock, then onto a green A2 card front.
• I stamped and layered the Art of God verse, and added it.

Impression Obsession Old Is New - Watercolor Winter Bird

Today we are featuring some of Impression Obsession's older stamps on our blogs.

 

I had no idea what a titmouse looks like, so I did my usual Google search to see what colors they have, and any other information that would be helpful to me for coloring him/her.  The titmouse is a tiny little bird. From the photos I found, they are blue and gray, with touches of a rusty orange and white on the breast and white around the eye.  The eyes are very large for such a small bird.

How I made my card:

• On watercolor paper, I stamped the Titmouse image, using pale light gray archival ink.
• 
  I water colored the bird and branch with Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colors.
  
• For the background, I wanted to go with a loose idea of a winter sky.  With a large paint brush, I brushed watercolor onto the bird panel.  I had masked the titmouse and portion of the branch.
• I used vintage photo and wild honey distress inks to distress the edges of the panel.
• I stamped the Take Care verse with archival ink.  I used a light gray, over a blue.
  
• I spattered some white acrylic paint onto the panel, then attached it to an A2 card front. OK, for full disclosure on this, see the Bonus Tip below.
  
• INSIDE:  I used the practice piece I had created when I tried out colors for the sky, and distressed the edges.
• I stamped the branch part of the titmouse stamp with gray around the upper edges, then attached it to the inside of the card.

I hope you like my card.  It was a challenge for me.  I have often heard water color artists say that their work looks like a hot mess at a certain point.  Yep, that's what happened.  BUT, they said to persevere, because eventually it will all turn out ok.  So, not to be daunted by my trash-worthy project, I kept at it.  And in the end, I think it came out ok.

Bonus tip:  If you ever put black spatters on your card, and really meant to put white, well, I have a solution.  Wait till the black paint dries, and add white acrylic paint right over the black spatters, using an embossing stylus with a rounded tip.  Ask me how I know!  The black spatters were really soooo wrong, and ruined the entire card.  So, I tried the white over them, figuring I had nothing to lose. It worked.  Phew!

Impression Obsession Old Is New Day - Eucalyptus Branch Hugs

 

 

Hello friends.  It's time for another Old Is New day at Impression Obsession, a day to use some of the older stamps in the line.

 

I am featuring a CAS card today.  This is out of my comfort zone, as I love embellishing and layering, and lots of texture.  But, every once in a while I stretch myself with a CAS challenge.

On watercolor paper, in my Misti, I stamped the Eucalyptus Branch with antique linen distress ink.  I used Kuretake Gansai watercolor paints to paint the image.  I painted in layers, building up color as I went from leaf to leaf.  When it was dry, I added some spatters.

I stamped the Sending Hugs verse onto a tag I had cut from the Small Tags die, and added it with some twine around the card.  I attached this panel to a soft heather panel, then onto an ivory A2 card front.

 

Inside, I stamped the Eucalyptus Branch 1 with weathered wood distress ink.

 

 

 

 

That's it.  Clean and simple.  Easy-peasy.

Impression Obsession Old Is New - Sunflower

 It's time for us to show some of our older stamps some inky love.  

I chose this Sunflower In Bloom, since sunflowers are our 

Feature Category thorough the rest of this month.

How I made it:

• I stamped the Sunflower In Bloom image with antique linen distress ink, using my Misti.
  
  
  
• I painted the flower lightly with Kuretake Gansai watercolor for the first layer, then let it dry.
• With my Polychromos colored pencils, I finished coloring the image, adding shading and highlights.
• I used Faber Castell soft pastels to add color to the background with a makeup square, then stamped French Text background stamp lightly here and there.
• I added the Get Well Wishes verse with foam tape.  
• I placed the image into the die cut frame, and attached the whole shebang to a card front.
• INSIDE:  I stamped the Strength verse, and a flower from the Flora and Fauna  clear set.

Impression Obsession Old Is New- Embossed Mum Square

 

It's Old Is New Day at Impression Obsession.  Today we have chosen older stamps from the IO line to use on our projects.

Here is how I made my card:

• I created a background on watercolor paper with distress inks.  I used the smoosh method to add color to a craft mat, then dabbed the panel of watercolor paper onto the mat.  I repeated with varying colors until I achieved the coverage I wanted.
• When this panel was dry, I embossed the Mum Square onto the background with black embossing powder.  
• I added the block to an eggplant A2 card front.  I used a leftover strip of the panel to add a bit of interest to the left edge of the card.

 

INSIDE:  I stamped the Grateful Heart image with dusty concord distress ink onto a panel, distressed the edges, and added it to the inside of the card.  I added another strip of the background from the front.

Impression Obsession Old Is New

Today we are featuring some of our older images on our projects.  

I have been working on holiday cards, and thought I would use this lovely bouquet from last year's fall release.  It is meant as a fall bouquet, but I felt it also works well for Christmas.

I masked off an area on a natural A2 card front with painter's tape, then brushed a background with distress ink.  I added a swirl grid stencil design to the background.

I stamped the Fall Florals onto white bristol vellum, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils. 

I fussy cut the image, added it to the card front, and stamped the Every Blessing verse to finish the card.  It's a quick, easy card, yet the image gives it elegance.

As you may know, I just love, love, love the Cover-A-Card stamps from Impression Obsession.  This Fancy Leaves stamp is one of the very first I purchased, soooo many years ago.  I use it for every season, and it has probably seen more ink than any of my other stamps!  I now have quite a collection of the CAC stamps.  

For my card today, I used Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons. I placed my Fancy Leaves stamp onto my craft mat, rubber side up, and spritzed it lightly with water.  I then took some Caran D'Ache crayons in greens, blues, and purple, and rubbed them directly onto the stamp.  I colored the entire stamp, then misted it again when I was finished.  

I placed a panel of natural card stock onto the stamp, and pressed evenly all over the back of it.  I had to repeat a portion of it, as the card stock panel is longer than the stamp, since I made a slimline card.  Most of the CAC stamps will cover an entire A2 size card in one go.

I love removing the stamp and seeing the results.  I misted my stamp pretty well, so it resulted in a watercolor look, which I was going for.  I added some spatters in the same colors, and brushed some of the color along the edges of the panel.  

I layered the panel onto a 7 1/2 x 3 3/4 natural card, and added the verse panel.

Inside, I inked the stamp with distress inks in similar colors, and stamped off a couple of times, to create a background.  I added a natural panel over it, leaving a border.  The inks give a distinctively look than the Neocolor II's.

Old Is New At Impression Obsession

It's Old Is New time at Impression Obsession.  Today we are using some of IO's older stamps on our blogs.  They need some lovin' too!

I created a Wooden Plank background on Bristol card stock with distress ink.  I framed an area with a layering frame die from my stash.

For the Botanical Heart, I stamped the heart with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, then painted the images with Arteza real brush markers.

I attached the panel to a pink A2 card front.  I added some pearl drops for embellishment, and stamped the See The Light verse.

Inside, I stamped the image twice, and added some distressing around the edges.

That's it.  Quick and easy today.  I love this elegant heart with it's dainty flowers.  Perfect for so many occasions.  And this sentiment really is beautiful.

Impression Obsession Old Is New - Coneflowers

I'm back with a stamp for Impression Obsession's Old Is New day, where we are featuring IO's older images on our cards.
My card today brings us flowers.  Here in the northeast US could use some color in our landscapes.  It's been a cool spring so far, and our gardens are just beginning to bloom, ever so slowly.

I stamped the Coneflowers image onto bristol card stock, using a Misti and antique linen distress ink, so that I could do no-line coloring.

With my Polychromos colored pencils, I colored the flower petals and leaves, and shaded in the background.  I love these pencils for their blending qualities.  They are oil-based instead of wax, so they allow you to create many layers in your coloring, to build up depth and color.  


I attached the panel to an A2 card front, and stamped and attached the Hope Is Faith verse, and mounted it with foam tape for dimension.

I hope you are inspired to pull out some of your older stamps and show them some love by making a card or project with them.

Old Is New At Impression Obsession - Peace Bouquet

Hello friends!  It's time again for Old Is New at Impression Obsession.  I used an older fall stamp from the IO line for my card today.  I challenged myself to make it look 'springy.'

I stamped the Autumn Bouquet onto green card stock, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils.  I used an oval die, and mounted it to another oval die cut piece of light blue card stock.  I attached this to a blue A2 card front (to which I had added a green strip of card stock).  



I die cut the 'peace' word from the Typewriter Sentiments die set, added it to a blue scrap, and attached it with foam tape. 

A green silk ribbon adds the finishing touch!

That's it.  I have been spending lots of time in my studio, trying to stay away from all the craziness with the news and scary events happening.  I find peace in my room.  I am sharing this peace with you today, via my card.
