The minute I saw this bird in the branch, I knew I had to have it!  I have always had a 'thing' for flowers, and it seems I have also taken a liking to bird images.

Stamps:
Bird In Tree G23033
Life Stuff Sentiments CL491
Sympathy Sentiments CL114

I stamped the Bird In Tree image onto bristol vellum card stock, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencilsI colored lightly and slowly, due to a broken wrist.  I had talked about this in my previous post here.  My coloring process and insights are explained in that post.

I added some spatters of distress ink to the background, and then the 'with heartfelt sympathy' verse from the Life Stuff Sentiments stamp set.  A strip of patterned paper finish the image panel, which I had added to a green card front.

Inside:  I added a verse from the Sympathy Sentiments  set over a brushed distress ink background, along with some of the same pp and a strip of the same green as my base card.

Elegant Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards...nobody wants to have to make them.  But, sadly, there are times when we need to send them.  I believe that when a person gets a home-made sympathy card, they feel your love and concern in a special way.  They know you took the time and cared enough to make them a special card in their time of grief.  It's like an extra hug for a friend, and something they can look at any time they want.
For my focal piece on this card, I chose this flower stamp from Impression-Obsession, F8739.  I inked the stamp with antique linen distress ink, and stamped it onto Strathmore mixed media paper.

I used Tombow markers to watercolor the flower using the no-line method.  When dry, I fussy-cut the flower and put it aside.

For the card, I used Tim Holtz distress inks in shabby shutters and peeled paint, and sponged them on with my ink blending tool.  I stamped some background images with clear stamps from the Impression-Obsession CL124 Solid Florals set.

The sympathy verse is from I-O's clear set CL114 Sympathy Sentiments, and I embossed it in gold.

I added some gold fibers to the flower, and some tiny gold beads to the center, and adhered it to the card with foam tape.  Some sparkling crystals from Studio Katia finish off my card today.

I am entering my card in the Impression-Obsession challenge (friendship flowers).  I am also adding it to the The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I do appreciate you taking time from your day to visit.  Your comments always warm my heart.

Blessings,

Love You Card For The Ton Challenge

Hello peeps....

My card for today primarily features the cherry blossoms background stamp from The Ton.  I made it for The Ton Challenge , where the theme is LOVE.

I embossed the background stamp with white embossing powder onto a piece of light blue card stock.  I colored the open flowers with my Tombow markers, shading and blending with my blender pen.  I colored the openings behind the flowers with my Faber Castell soft pastels in gray.  I used the love die from Simon Says Stamp, and cut the backing with blue card stock, and the top 'love' word with white, which I also embossed with white powder. I stamped the word 'you' from the same stamp set.  The heart die is Spellbinders.  A few gems from Paper Studio sprinkled here and there finish it off.
Other challenges for my card:

Stampin Royalty - Use dies

Anything goes

Addicted To Stamps - Photo inspiration

Since I did not use the entire panel, I decided to make another card with the piece that was left.  Sadly, I need a sympathy card, so I grabbed a piece of gray card stock, and a sympathy stamp (Flourishes), and made this...
That's it for today.  I can't believe Ash Wednesday is this week!  Spring is coming...and it cannot be too soon for most of us.  I've been welcoming the flocks of geese as they come honking their way back north.  There must have been at least ten flocks yesterday, and several more today.  I have been restless, and have the urge to be outdoors, playing in my garden.  I will have to settle for gardening pins on Pinterest, and floral, springy cards for now.  But it won't be long..the robins are here, and my hostas are showing their sprouts.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  Hope to see you back soon.

Blessings,

lynda
