Art Journal Page - Dylusions

Here it is.....day 30....the last day of the 30 day color challenge at The Daily Marker.  It has been fun, though sometimes a little difficult, to create something every day.  I really enjoyed myself, though, and stretched myself a little.  Many thanks to Kathy for hosting this challenge on her fabulous blog!

I started this as an art journal page a while ago, and kind of just left it.  I stamped the girl (Dylusions clear stamp) onto 110 pound watercolor paper.   I decided to create a neutral background, so I masked her, then used my paint brush and distress inks to brush color around her.  Then I did a little spattering with a large brush. 

I want to give this to my daughter, so when I rescued this from my art journal today, I decided to attach it to a canvas, so she can hang it or use it on an easel.   During the time this project was "brewing," I was thinking of what quote I would use.  I decided on this one, and did my best printing (I really need to take some classes on hand lettering).  It is the perfect quote for my daughter, who loves life and embraces it with passion.  She also happens to be a hair stylist and makeup artist at the salon she manages.   

I watercolored the image with distress inks, and the rose on her hat separately, and attached it with foam tape to make it dimensional.  I added a few more details and touch-ups, and sponged distress ink along the edges to soften the canvas.

I am glad I rescued this from my journal and finally finished it.  I hope she likes it!

Violet Bouquet - Day 12 Color Challenge

TGIF!!  It's day 12 of The Daily Marker Color Challenge .  This is my card for the challenge....

This pretty stamp is from Endless Designs.  I stamped it on kraft colored card stock, then used acrylic paint to paint it.  I love the way the color really shows up on the kraft background.  

The problem was that when I was finished painting the design, the lines were really dull and not very clear.  So I took my # 2 Micron pen and re-outlined the image with it.  Then it popped!  A little layering and some ribbon and pearls, and there you have it.

I don't know about you, but I could use a little bright and cheery right about now.  Winter has finally hit, and hard.  Looks like more time in the craft room for me!

Spunky, Sassy Girl Stamps

I was going through some boxes of images I had stamped up...some go back a few years!  I am challenging myself to use them up.  I have been having fun pulling them out and coloring them, playing with different mediums.  
I don't know who makes this stamp, but there are three or four of these sassy girls.  I love this one.....

 In case you can't read the shopping bag, it says "put on your big girl panties and deal with it!"  Oh, how I'd love to have said that to certain people at times! 

This is for The Color Throwdown Challenge #335 .  The colors are muted red, light green, and light yellow.  The colors are generic, and you can use any hues and add neutrals if you wish.

The image had been embossed in black sparkle embossing powder.  I used Tim Holtz distress inks, rubbed them on a palette, and used them as watercolor,  applying them with a brush. I decided to get more of the colors on the image by striping the dress.  She is tall and skinny enough to pull off sideways stripes!  I used the smoosh technique for the background, using these same colors (a link to the technique is in my Everything Beautiful Card post on March 25th).

I am not a fan of using sequins on cards, but this one just screamed for them!  They add just the right punch, don't you think?
