With Love Simon Says Stamp Challenge Card

The minute I saw this sweet stamp set, I had to have it.  I love these flowers, their graceful sway and lovely blossoms.  I decided to do them first in colored pencil, taking my inspiration from Debbie Hughes.    Debbie demonstrates how she colors with colored pencil.  Click on her highlighted name to see her post and tutorial.
I stamped my flowers onto kraft card stock using VersaMark clear ink, and colored them with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils.  I fussy-cut the right side and added it to a piece of textured card stock, creating an A2 size card.  I folded the front of the card back, which gave it an interesting z-fold.
The sentiment is embossed onto a darker card stock panel, and I used foam tape to adhere.  Simon Says Stamp moonstone sequins finish off my card.

Stamps are Simon Says Stamp clear set Bouquet Of Thanks SSS101748.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Get in shape (shaped card)

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge - Anything goes

Allsorts challenge - Fancy folds

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Thanks for visiting my blog.

Enjoy The Sweet Things Challenge Card

One of my favorite stamp sets for making summer-time cards is this sweet 'Refreshments' set from Impression-Obsession Stamps (WP270).  It is a clear stamp set, and has lots of images and a couple of verses.  It's so fun to stamp and color.

I made my card for the Impression-Obsession Card Challenge .  The theme there is to use summer or hot colors, so out came my yellows and oranges and pinks, oh my!  They work so well with this set, and these images sure do scream 'summer.'

I started with a white A2 card, and brushed the entire card with yellow distress ink (Tim Holtz distress inks), using my Clarity brushes.  When that was dry, I used a solid circle mask to reserve the yellow spotlight for my image, and commenced to brush on hot pink and orange inks around it.  This made a lovely spotlight for my image, which I stamped with India Ink black, and colored with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils.  I stamped one of the other images and colored and fussy-cut the little balls, and added them with foam tape to the card.

Using my Misti to ensure a good image, I stamped the verse in black.  I added some sequins, and brushed the tiny drink umbrellas with my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen for a bit of glitter.

That's it.  Kept it simple and fun.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  See you soon!

Hope In The Lord Challenge Card

I needed a card to send to a friend who is going through some dark times, and could use some encouragement.  I just wanted her to know I am thinking of her, and to give her hope.
Stamps are all Penny Black.  The phrase is from their 30-429 Gift From Above set.  I also used a phrase from that set on the inside of the card.  The flowers/vase is from their Perfect Pairing set #30-346.

I added the striped patterned paper to a top-folding A-2 black card.  I stamped the flowers/vase onto bristol smooth paper, and used my Derwent Inktense pencils to watercolor them, then fussy-cut them and adhered them to the card front with foam tape for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment onto vellum and added that, and watercolored a strip of the same bristol with the colors I used on the flower, and added that.  I brushed some glittery shimmer on the flowers with my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen.

Some assorted moonshine sequins from Simon Says Stamp finished off the card.
Inside of card - Pic taken before glue dried.

I added my card to these challenges:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge  - Flowers

House of Cards challenge - Stripes and/or colors

Zentangle Journal Page

Lately I have been playing in my Zentangle journal, trying new tangles, revisiting old ones.  This page features Apacore and Wayward 6 patterns....
These patterns were fun, and I enjoyed developing a page around them and using them together.  I like that I could create a block for one tangle, and left room for more so I could add them during the week.

It's difficult to make myself stay indoors in my craft room on lovely summer days.  I find Zentangle to be more 'do-able' than stamping and card-making, as it is portable. I'm able to bring my tiles and journal outside and tangle on the deck, or during down times when I have a few minutes here and there.

But, I did manage to make a couple of cards, which I will be posting later, so please stop back!

Thanks for visiting!

Cas-ual Fridays Challenge Card - You Are....

I found a few minutes to be indoors today to make another card for the Cas-ual Fridays Challenge - a tic tac toe challenge.  I chose monochromatic, add a tag, no embellishments....

All stamps are Cas-ual Fridays, from the Truth Is set, and the Pretty Posies set.
I am also adding my card to the Addicted To Stamps Challenge.  The theme there is CAS.
It is a lovely day, so I'm heading back outside to play a bit in my garden, and sip some wine, and read a couple of chapters in my book.  Not necessarily in that order!
Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope to see you back here soon.

You're Pretty Amazing Cas-ual Fridays Challenge Card

A quick post tonight with a card I made for a couple of challenges this week.
I didn't have any butterflies for the Cas-ual Fridays challenge, so I improvised by getting creative with the flowers in their Truth Is clear set.  I think they kind of look like stylized butterflies.  I know, it's a stretch.  The verse is also from this same set.
I used the flower tops as butterflies by inking only the top of the smaller flower by masking off the rest of the flower with Post-It notes, then stamping onto my card.  Then I used the same flower right next to it, mirroring it so that it looked somewhat like a stylized butterfly.  I drew in the body and head with my micron pen.

I used Tim Holtz distress inks with a Dove blender to color the 'butterflies,' and to stencil the stripes, using a stencil from my stash.  I added some spatters of ink, and used my clear Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to add some sparkle to the butterflies and stripes.

My card today is for the following challenges:

Cas-ual Fridays - Tic Tac Toe (butterflies, 1 layer, stripes)
Calling All Sistahs - Color challenge
