Thank You Card - Penny Black Saturday Challenge

Happy Saturday!  It is the midway point for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge, and I have a card for your inspiration.

The theme this month is Anything goes, with optional theme of Inspired by a song.  My song is Build Me Up, Buttercup by The Association.   

I stamped the buttercup flowers from the Botanical Garden  set onto Arteza watercolor paper.  I used Arteza Real Brush markers  and Arteza water brush to paint the image.  

Inside

For the background, I used some older Penny Black stamps from my stock and stamped them lightly.  I used the Leaf Frolic Stencil to brush on some stenciled leaves.  I added some distressing on the panel and along the edges with distress inks, and a panel with 'thanks' from the Special Thoughts set.

Owl Thank You

TGIF!  Today I thought I'd post another card using another of the Impression Obsession fall dies, along with other older dies, before we come back on Monday and Tuesday to showcase the IO Winter Die Release with the IO Winter Die Hop!

This was a fun card to make.  I used some patterned paper for the A2 card panel, and to cut the Stitch Tag die.  I attached that with foam tape.

I cut the owl die from brown, white and blue.  I hand colored the feet and the beak.  I added the Branch die to the tag, and after assembling the owl, added him to the tag with foam tape, so that he appears to be standing on the branch.

A silk ribbon through the tag hole, and a stamped Thank You sentiment from the Smile Clear Stamp Set finish off the card front.

IO Die-Cut Obsession - Flourish Background

Today starts another exciting feature on the Impression-Obsession blog.  A couple of times a month, we will be featuring dies in the Die-Cut Obsession posts.  
You can find the other designer's posts listed on the Impression-Obsession blog HERE.

I love the background dies, and this Sm. Flourish Background DIE445-YY is one of my favorites.  I also used the Thanks from the Greetings Set DIE174-W.

I die-cut the Sm. Flourish Background DIE445-YY, and added it to the same color pink panel then onto a green A2 card.  I used picked raspberry distress ink to add some color to the area I was going to place my flower.

I stamped the Wispy Cosmos onto Arteza watercolor paper, and used Daniel Smith watercolors to paint the flower.  I then fussy-cut it and added it to the card with foam tape to give it dimension.


I layered several of the Thanks die cuts, and added them to the card.  A spattering of moonshine sequins adds just a little shine.

I love the combination of pink and green. They're such pretty, perky, happy colors.  I wanted a cheery card today, so that's the way I rolled.  I did sneak just a hint of yellow into the pink on some of the petals, just for some interest and play with color.  I'm sneaky that way some times.  

There are so many ways to use dies on cards, and new techniques are showing up every day.  How about you?  Do you use dies on your cards?

Portion Control

Hello again, lovely peeps.  I am on a roll today!  I think this will be my last post for today. 

Stamps:  Power Poppy digital stamps:

I created the background strip by running an acrylic brayer through a Kaleidacolor Riviera stamp pad, and rolling it onto a piece of matte-coated card stock.  I repeated the rolling several times to achieve the intensity I wanted.  I dropped some gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water onto it, and rolled again to achieve the gold highlights.  I stamped a script stamp (unmounted from my stash - unknown) over it when it was dry.

For the flowers, I chose cool colors for a winter palette.  I colored with Polychromos colored pencils.  For the soft haze around the bouquet, I used Faber Castel pastels with a cotton swab.  

I used my light box to trace one of the flowers under the verse, and colored that.  Cut both circles with the double stitched circles from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I added a bow I made with my Bow-Easy.  I added some sparkling crystals from Studio Katia to finish off the card.

Spring Thank You Card

This little kitty is waiting for some important mail, it seems.  Or maybe it's just a good spot to see the birds!  Either way, he seems content, perched on top of this mail box.

Stamps:  Art Impressions watercolor stamps
Other:  Watercolor paper, MFT dies, Tombow markers, watercolor brush, stamp positioner

I stamped the mailbox onto the watercolor paper, using a sepia Tombow marker to ink up the stamp.  I painted the mailbox with markers.  Using a stamp positioner, I stamped the kitty on top, painted him, then added foliage and flowers, inking the stamps with the markers, and dabbing them with some water from my brush.  

A handwritten thank you, and some die cutting and layering finish off my card today.  I am enjoying my Art Impressions watercolor stamps.  I will keep practicing, and hopefully will get better.  I think it will take some time to really get good at this technique.  In the meantime, I am having fun with them.

Thank You Card

I have a thing for purple.  There, I said it, I like purple!  So, when I saw the Our Daily Bread Designs challenge,  I knew I had to enter.
This is the color inspiration.  You had to use three or more of the colors. 
 
 Here is my card for their color challenge...

I stamped the flower with distress inks, and colored it with polychromos colored pencils, then used the Lacey squares die to cut it, then used distress ink and my Clarity brush to add a hint of violet to the edges.  I did the same with the verse, using one of the pennant flags dies.  I cut the border with one of the leafy edged border dies.  I trimmed off some of the flower panel, and tucked the border up under it, hand trimming the leaf to overlap the border.  Some clear opalescent sequins are the finishing touch.

A Time To Give Thanks - Autumn Card

The siding contractors are just about finished with the house!  I'm so over the noise and interruptions, but thankful for the lovely new exterior on the home we have occupied for 36 years!

I am wrapping up my fall/Thanksgiving cardmaking.  I adore this time of year, and making cards in the deep fall hues and colors.  But, alas, Christmas is creeping ever closer, and I need to get cracking on those projects soon.  

For this card, I used chalk pastels, and Impression-Obsession stamps.  I started with an A2 kraft colored card, and decided I wanted to keep it one layer.  I stamped the berries with VersaMark, then used a cotton applicator to apply the color to them.  The verse was stamped with TH distress inks in walnut stain.  A white spattering of acrylic paint, some white colored pencil on the berries, and a hand-written border of thankful words complete my card today.

Embossed Falling Leaves Card

I'm just popping in for another quick post tonight.  I wanted to get this card posted before celebrating our soon to be six year old granddaughter's birthday this weekend.

 I used an oldie but goodie leaf stamp, by Personal Stamp Exchange (remember them?) from wayyyy back.  I love this stamp, and will never let it go.  

I embossed the leaves and the Giving Thanks sentiment with gold.  The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday clear set.
Keeping it really CAS, I layered a piece of gold paper from my stash onto some grape card stock, cutting around the T in Thanks with my craft knife so the gold panel would fit under it.  Then, I scattered the leaves and some sequins over the card front, using foam tape behind a couple of the leaves for dimension.
