Gardening Hare Card With Polychromos Colored Pencils

Hello friends!  Just a quick post for today.  It's Day One of The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge.  Normally Kathy runs this for 30 days, but this one time it is only ten days.

I just love this hare with his gardening tools and flowers!  I have had this stamp in my stash forever, and have used it often in the past.  Unfortunately, I do not know what company it is, as it is unmounted from the wood, and I neglected to write down the info.
UPDATE:  The amazing Dina Kowall did some detective work and found this stamp on Ebay.  Here is a link to it:  . https://vlvstamps.com/rabbit-gardener-3-x-3-3-4.html .  It is called Rabbit Gardener.

The card is quick and easy.  I just stamped the hare, and colored him with Polychromos colored pencils.  Polychromos are my favorite colored pencils.  They have strong leads, which do not break when sharpening, and they are terrific for layering.  They do not build up a waxy surface which prevents layering like others I have used.

I hope you find some time to join Kathy Racoosin's coloring challenge at The Daily Marker.  Kathy is very talented, and you're sure to find lots of tips from her work.

I am adding my card to these other challenges:

Paper Funday Challenge - Spring has sprung
Watercooler Challenge - All things masculine
The Paper Players - Color challenge

Thanks for stopping by today.

Blessings,

I have two cards for your inspiration today.

Card One:

 IO Stamps Links:

How I made it:
  • On a watercolor paper panel, I stamped the Lotus Flower 1 image with light pink distress ink.
  • I painted the Lotus Flower 1 with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints, and added some shadows and highlights with Polychromos colored pencils.
  • For the background background and water, I used the same watercolor paints and painted the water in long brush strokes, and painted in some petals to reflect from the water.  I used lots of water and dabbed on pinks for the sky.
  • I stamped the Believe In Miracles verse from the Hummingbird Clear Set when the panel was completely dry.
  • For the center of the flower, I added some tiny black beads with Tombow Mono glue.

Card Two: Black Eyed Susan

  • On bristol card stock, I stamped the Black Eyed Susan image. I used Polychromos colored pencils to color the image.
  • I used the Stitched Tag DIE1058 to cut the Black Eyed Susan, and added some distressing with yellow-toned distress inks.
  • I added some patterned papers and a strip of black card stock to a white A2 card front.
  • I stamped the One from the One Day At A Time verse onto a piece of pp, and cut it with a circle die from the Wacky Stitched Circles DIE837-YY set of dies.
  • I stamped the 'day at a time' from the same verse stamp at the bottom right of the yellow dotted pp.
  • I added the tag and circle to the card front, and pulled a piece of dotted Swiss ribbon through the tag.

So, there you have my Day Two cards.  I will be back throughout the month with more cards from this fabulous release.

Next on the hop is  Vicky Garrett's blog.  You can find a list of all the participants for Day Two HERE.  Be sure to check out their inspiration.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Don't forget to comment on each blog for your chances to win one of three $25 gift certificates to the IO Store!

Impression Obsession Old Is New - Live With Passion

Happy Monday!  It's Old Is New day at Impression Obsession!  Today the team is using some of our well-loved older images on our projects.  I chose, surprise, one of our flowers, and a fabulous older clear stamp set with dozens of words to create endless expressions.
IO Stamps links:

In my Misti, on mixed media paper, I 'inked' the Passion Flower image, using pink and green Tombow markers on the petals and leaves.  I used a Dove Blending tool to blend the marker colors, and also added some more color.
I added colored pencil with my Polychromos, adding highlights and shadows, and emphasizing certain areas.

The verse is three words which I have chosen from the Express Yourself  clear set.  I love this set for the variety of phrases you can make with the dozens of words in the set.

Inside, I stamped the World Needs verse on some layered card stock.
I hope you are enjoying our Old Is New Feature.  We all have well-loved stamps that we sometimes neglect.  Let's get them out and get them inky!

Impression Obsession Old Is New

Today we are featuring some of our older images on our projects.

I have been working on holiday cards, and thought I would use this lovely bouquet from last year's fall release.  It is meant as a fall bouquet, but I felt it also works well for Christmas.
Fall Florals L20748
Every Blessing C13698

I masked off an area on a natural A2 card front with painter's tape, then brushed a background with distress ink.  I added a swirl grid stencil design to the background.

I stamped the Fall Florals onto white bristol vellum, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils

I fussy cut the image, added it to the card front, and stamped the Every Blessing verse to finish the card.  It's a quick, easy card, yet the image gives it elegance.

Thanks for dropping by.  You can see the other designer's projects for our Old Is New feature HERE.

Impression Obsession Old Is New - Coneflowers

I'm back with a stamp for Impression Obsession's Old Is New day, where we are featuring IO's older images on our cards.
My card today brings us flowers.  Here in the northeast US could use some color in our landscapes.  It's been a cool spring so far, and our gardens are just beginning to bloom, ever so slowly.
IO Stamp links:
Coneflowers H16010
Hope Is Faith C20638

I stamped the Coneflowers image onto bristol card stock, using a Misti and antique linen distress ink, so that I could do no-line coloring.

With my Polychromos colored pencils, I colored the flower petals and leaves, and shaded in the background.  I love these pencils for their blending qualities.  They are oil-based instead of wax, so they allow you to create many layers in your coloring, to build up depth and color.

I attached the panel to an A2 card front, and stamped and attached the Hope Is Faith verse, and mounted it with foam tape for dimension.

I hope you are inspired to pull out some of your older stamps and show them some love by making a card or project with them.

Thanks for stopping by today.  You can find more inspiration from the other designers on today's Impression Obsession blog post HERE.

Blessings,

I have two more cards to share with you today.
Card One:

Hollyhocks CC408
In My Heart D13912
Hollyhocks DIE169-R
INSIDE

I used my Misti to stamp the Hollyhocks onto Canson bristol XL recycled paper.  I repeated stamping, using different shades of pinks and violets.  I removed the paper from the Misti, and used distress reinkers to paint the petals.  I added additional details with colored pencils.  I used blue distress ink for the background.

I die cut the Hollyhocks die, and painted them with the distress ink colors that I had used on the Hollyhocks.

I added the In My Heart verse on a strip of the same paper, using foam tape for extra dimension.

Card Two:
Flora & Fauna CL1025
Flower Bits CL1024

I stamped the images from both sets onto bristol card stock, and colored them with Polychromos colored pencils, then fussy-cut them out.
INSIDE

For the panel base, I used a happy birthday embossing plate from my stash.  I brushed some distress ink over it to help the words stand out a bit more.  I attached the panel to a green A2 card front.

I arranged and adhered the flowers and foliage to the card.  On the inside, I used the D20728 Special Day stamp.

I hope you like my cards.
I will be back tomorrow with more cards.  You can find links to the other designer's posts on the Impression Obsession blog HERE.

I Tried Running

Happy Tuesday!  I thought this was a good day for a little comedic relief from the stress of the Corona virus pandemic.
Some days I have anxiety and stress issues, like so many others.  I find if I limit the amount of news I watch, and take time to create, pray, work in my garden, and reach out to family and friends in small ways, I am more at peace.

I try to send out a few cards a day to people we know (I have a large, LARGE stash of cards), with inspiring and comforting sentiments.  When I've gone through the people I know, I will  go through our church directory, and start sending cards to others.  It brings me joy to think that my card may be a bright spot in someone's day.

I had to smile when I saw this stamp from the Technique Junkies April release.  I know several people who would love to receive this.

I stamped the Tried Running stamp onto white card stock, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils. I used the Rays Stencil to create the yellow rays in the background, using an applicator brush with distress ink.

A little layering onto a gray A2 card, and that was that.

Inside:  Verse from the Technique Junkies Modern Encouragements set.
All new release stamps are 15% off through April 8th.  Use my code for an additional 10% off.  TJ10Lynda.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you find some joy in your day today.  Stay safe and healthy.

Christmas Rose Card

Hello, and welcome to my blog.  Today I am sharing my post from the Technique Junkies blog.  You can find the post HERE.

Technique Junkies stamps:
     Christmas Rose JT025
Victorian Greetings Set of 6  JT030
A Colorful Life Swirl Grid Stencil
Gifts of Christmas Set of 5

I used watercolor and Polychromos colored pencils to color the rose image.  I painted the image, then added details, shading, and highlights with my pencils.  I love Polychromos pencils, as I can add layers upon layers without getting a waxy build-up that I get from other pencils.  I added some Studio Katia sparkling crystals for embellishment.

And the inside:

I am adding my card to these challenges today:
