I am delighted to share my post today as Guest Star Stamper for the Color Throwdown Challenge # 488.

I love the color combo for this challenge....

 And, here is my card based on that inspiring photo....

I really had fun creating this card.  I stamped the Just Rite Blooming Vines stamp onto Strathmore bristol vellum paper, using Tim Holtz distress ink in antique linen.  I wanted an ink that would not show so that I could color it with the no-line look.  

I colored with Faber Castell Polychromos, my favorite colored pencils.  For the background, I used Faber Castell soft pastels with a cotton swab around the flowers, and a larger pom-pom for the areas in between.  After applying the blue pastels, I used a clean cotton swab to clean the chalk off of the images.  

I added the Wishing die from Simon Says Stamp, and the white embossed verse from Simon Says Stamp Sending and Wishing clear stamp set.  

A sprinkling of white acrylic paint, applied by dabbing my embossing stylus into paint and then onto the card, and some yellow embroidery floss, finish off my card.

Watercolor Card With Inktense Pencils

Yesterday I posted a card using the Penny Black stamp Playful (30-347).  I really like the stamp, and wanted to make another card with it today, so here it is....

This is the same stamp, but looks entirely different from yesterday's card.  That one I painted using the no-line watercolor technique.  On this card I decided to let the lines help me give it more definition.  I used my Inktense watercolor pencils to watercolor the image and the blue background behind the flowers.

On the card itself, I stamped Penny Black stamps, including a phrase stamp (don't know the number as it is off the wood and I neglected to write it) and some other PB stamps that I love to use for interest on my cards with Tim Holtz distress inks in squeezed Lemonade to carry the yellow onto the card.  I also sponged the squeezed lemonade behind the circle panel and on the smaller panel with the phrase.  The Special Day stamp is from PB's Gratitude 30-105 clear set.

Two shades of blue sequins finish off the card.

I used yellows so I could enter it in the Color Throwdown # 388 challenge.  The colors this week are yellow, blue, green, and white.  I hesitated because I really didn't want the flowers yellow.  I'm glad I did it, because I never would have chosen yellow for them, but it turns out I like them yellow.

I also entered it in the Penny Black At Allsorts where the challenge is Birthdays.

Spunky, Sassy Girl Stamps

I was going through some boxes of images I had stamped up...some go back a few years!  I am challenging myself to use them up.  I have been having fun pulling them out and coloring them, playing with different mediums.  
I don't know who makes this stamp, but there are three or four of these sassy girls.  I love this one.....

 In case you can't read the shopping bag, it says "put on your big girl panties and deal with it!"  Oh, how I'd love to have said that to certain people at times! 

This is for The Color Throwdown Challenge #335 .  The colors are muted red, light green, and light yellow.  The colors are generic, and you can use any hues and add neutrals if you wish.

The image had been embossed in black sparkle embossing powder.  I used Tim Holtz distress inks, rubbed them on a palette, and used them as watercolor,  applying them with a brush. I decided to get more of the colors on the image by striping the dress.  She is tall and skinny enough to pull off sideways stripes!  I used the smoosh technique for the background, using these same colors (a link to the technique is in my Everything Beautiful Card post on March 25th).

I am not a fan of using sequins on cards, but this one just screamed for them!  They add just the right punch, don't you think?
