How I made it:

• 
  On watercolor paper, I created a watercolor background, using the
  smoosh method.  I rubbed some distress inks in red, pink, and brown onto my glass mat, then spritzed it with water.  I placed the watercolor paper panel into the inky goodness, and repeated this a couple of times.
• When dry, I stamped the Valentine Heart Border, using my Misti so that I could stamp a few times to get the most intense image.  I love the flowy, graceful curves of this stamp.
• I stamped the verse from the Anniversary Sentiments set in archival brown ink, again, in my Misti.
• I attached the panel to a light brown A2 card front. 
• INSIDE:  I stamped the Valentine Heart Border, then a verse from the same Anniversary Sentiments set.

Watercolor With Leaf Cluster

 

It's a very windy Sunday morning here in upstate New York.  We are preparing for a wind storm later today.  Good day to be indoors with my creative supplies.

One More Slimline Card

I hope you have enjoyed the Impression Obsession Slimline release hop, and found some inspiration on the design team's cards.  These stamps are so amazing.  They make it easy to create quick and easy scenes.  We have been having so much fun creating with them.

How I made it:

• On a card stock panel, using my Misti, I stamped two parts of the Tree Line Layers images with dark gray ink, to give them the appearance of being in the distance, and a bit muted because of the sunset.
• Without reinking the images, I stamped them upside down under the hills I had created to get a faint reflection.
  
• With stencil brushes, I brushed on wild honey and tumbled glass distress inks, building up intensity slowly for smooth blending.
• I used similar color pencils to create ripples for the water.
• In the foreground, I stamped the top of the Norway Spruce, to make the scene appear further back as though looking into it. 
• I cut the Peace DIE from white card stock, and added it.
• INSIDE:  I stamped the scene as for the front, then added the Someone Cares verse.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge May Challenge Card

It's time for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  The theme, as always, is Anything Goes.  The optional element this month is 'Inspired By A Song.'

My card was inspired by the song 'Be My Little Baby Bumblebee,' by Doris Day.

I stamped the Fairy Love stamp onto a piece of bristol card stock, and colored her with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils, and a water brush. I masked the image, and brushed distress inks over the background.  I used a die to cut the image.

For the background, on a white A2 card front,  I used distress ink through the dot stencil.  I layered the stamped panel onto the card front with craft foam for dimension.

I added the stamped verse from the Special Thoughts set.

WWDB Technique Junkies Challenge - Day Four

I'm back today with another card for the Technique Junkies WWDB (What We Do Best) Challenge, designed to honor those workers on the front lines of the Corona Virus Panemic.  This week's theme is to thank a nurse, doctor, first responder, store clerk, delivery people, law enforcement, etc.  We also need to decorate the envelope.  The idea is to make a card, but also to send a card!  
 
Here's my card and envy today.

Technique Junkies stamps:

I created the card with a soft blue/green card stock, and used bleach to 'ink' my French Text stamp, then stamped it onto the card front.  I used a sponge applicator tool to apply the bleach (which I had poured onto a saucer).  
I dipped the sponge tip into the bleach (just a wee bit of bleach, enough to show a little puddle on the saucer).
Then I dabbed it onto the stamp, and held it on the card front for about 20 seconds.  When it dried, I had white letters!

I cut another piece of the card stock, and used it as an elevated panel, then stamped the Vintage Lighthouse onto another scrap piece. 

I colored this with colored pencils, then brushed some distress inks on it for the sky and water reflection.  I had masked the lighthouse before doing this.

I used a die to cut the tag, then added it to the panel.  I also added a die cut Thanks so much verse.

Inside, I stamped the Always Hope verse on another piece of the bleached card stock, distressed the edges, and added it to the inside of the card.

Impression Obsession Challenge - Give Thanks Card

Welcome to Impression Obsession's challenge, So Thankful!  I have a card to share with you for inspiration for today's challenge.

I started with a natural card stock panel, and stamped the three different leaves randomly, using distress inks in Dusty Concord and Vintage Photo.  I added some dots with distress markers.  


I added some gold cording with a bow around the panel, and attached it to an eggplant A2 card.  I stamped the verse with the Vintage Photo distress ink, layered it, and added it to the card with foam tape. 
   
Some Studio Katia gold metallic pearls finish off the card front.

For the inside, I stamped the Special Blessing verse, and added some of the leaves around the panel.

This was a very quick and easy card to make, and those fabulous leaves make it look so elegant.  And the touch of gold just brings a bright touch to it, don't you think?

Fall Is In The Air Card

Happy Sunday!  It's a bright, albeit brisk, early autumn day here.  The perfect day for playing in my studio, creating yet another fall card.  I used an Impression Obsession stamp set and die.

I used ivory card stock to make an A2 card.  I used the A Colorful Life Designs Leaf Set 1 stencil with brush applicators to add distress inks to the card front.  

**NOTE:  See my previous blog post HERE for a video link on how I did this, along with another card idea using the stencil.
  

I did add one more step to the way I did the technique in the video.  Do you see the script on some of the leaves in this card?  I just kept the stencil on after adding the color, and stamped the French Text stamp over it before removing.  Voila! Script!

I cut the Branch die twice from ivory card stock, and added distress inks, then attached them to the card front.

I stamped the verse from the Leaf Set  clear stamp set with rusty hinge distress ink, added it to some rust card stock, then added it to the card with foam tape for dimension.  

Inside:

So, for the inside I used this fabulous layering Leaf Set from Impression Obsession.  I used the same colors on the stamps as I had used through the stencil, stamping them randomly, some full strength, and some second and third generation.

I hope you're having a relaxing and peaceful day, or a fun-filled active day, whichever you prefer.  I'm afraid to go downstairs, as our team (Buffalo Bills) were behind at half time.  I'm not hearing any yelling down there, so I'm assuming it's not going well.  Or it could be.  I'll find out soon enough.

Impression-Obsession Challenge - Sending Sunshine

Welcome to the Impression-Obsession 'Sending Sunshine' challenge!  You can find links to all the designer's posts, as well as details about the challenge, on the Impression-Obsession blog HERE.

I brought the sunshine with my card today....

I created my background by adding some distress inks to watercolor paper with ink applicator sponges.  I then added some large droplets of water, and some spatters, and dried the panel.  

I stamped the 'soak up the' verse from the Summer Vibes set (leaving off the sun word), the sun from the same set, and added the Sunshine die.  I layered it up and added it to a yellow A2 card front.  

For the border, I hand drew some Zentangle patterns along the outside edges.

Inside:  I hand drew some circles, and colored it with distress inks, adding the verse from the same set as above.

Impression-Obsession Old Is New - Retro Owls

Welcome to Old Is New Day at Impression-Obsession!  All of the designers have created a project using an older stamp from the IO website.  We enjoy showing our oldies but goodies some inky love.  You can see the other designer's posts on the IO blog HERE.

For my card today, I am going retro.  Retro Owls, that is!

I started with bristol card stock, and stamped the Owl Leaves H2370 onto it, using my Misti and distress inks.   I kept the panel in the Misti while I watercolored it with a damp brush.  I pulled the color out with the brush, then added some other colors to get the look I wanted.  When it dried (OK...I dried it with my heat tool because I'm impatient), I re-stamped the image a couple of times to darken the lines.

 
I created the background with distress inks, brushing them on carefully.


I colored the Retro Owls D2413 owl in the same fashion, fussy-cut it, and added it with foam tape.  The verse, Hang In There, was stamped in Ranger Archival ink.  


Some sparkling crystals finish off the card front.
