Warm Winter Wishes Card With Slimline Stamp

Hello there.  It's a lovely late fall day here.  The sun is shining, and trees have lost much of their brilliance, with their leaves cascading like so many tiny brilliant parachutes.  There's a certain melancholy about days like today, and it is beckoning me out for a long walk along our river trail.  That's where I'm heading right after I post this.

So, on to my card.  I used two of the Impression Obsession new slimline release stamps, and two older IO dies.

IO Stamps/Dies Links:

And here's how I made it:
  • Using my Misti, on bristol card stock, I stamped the Snowy Night Slimline, using distress inks and blending the colors as I stamped.  I stamped it at least four or five times to achieve the density I wanted.
  • I tore some strips of white card stock to create the snowy hills in the foreground and background, and attached them to the Snowy Night panel.
  • I used the Deer Trio dies to cut the deer, then added them to the hills, placing them as I desired.
  • I used the Fir Trees dies to cut the fir trees, and added them along side the deer and under the hills I had created, overlapping them as I added them to the composition.
  • I stamped the warm winter wishes verse from the Winter Greetings Slimline set with blue ink to match the sky background.
  • I used a paint brush with some watered down Tombow glue to paint highlights on the trees, hills, and snowflakes, and added crystal glitter
    over it.
  • When the glue was dry, I added the panel to a white card front.  It is not a typical slimline size card, but it is a larger card, and I needed the length of the slimline stamps to be able to create the scene long enough to fit.

I hope I have inspired you to try some of these new slimline stamps in the Impression Obsession line.  You can find all of them at the IO store HERE.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

One More Slimline Card

I hope you have enjoyed the Impression Obsession Slimline release hop, and found some inspiration on the design team's cards.  These stamps are so amazing.  They make it easy to create quick and easy scenes.  We have been having so much fun creating with them.

IO Stamps/Die Links:

How I made it:
  • On a card stock panel, using my Misti, I stamped two parts of the Tree Line Layers images with dark gray ink, to give them the appearance of being in the distance, and a bit muted because of the sunset.
  • Without reinking the images, I stamped them upside down under the hills I had created to get a faint reflection.
  • With stencil brushes, I brushed on wild honey and tumbled glass distress inks, building up intensity slowly for smooth blending.
  • I used similar color pencils to create ripples for the water.
  • In the foreground, I stamped the top of the Norway Spruce, to make the scene appear further back as though looking into it.
  • I cut the Peace DIE from white card stock, and added it.
  • INSIDE:  I stamped the scene as for the front, then added the Someone Cares verse.

Embossed Winter Wonderland Card

You're right, it's not winter, yet.  In fact, in our little part of the world, we are enjoying the crisp fall breezes and abundant rich colors in our trees.  But, winter is coming, and along with it comes Christmas.  So, I've been busy creating Christmas cards for the releases for my design team projects.  This is one of my favorites.

Technique Junkies stamps:

How I made it:
  • On a white smooth bristol panel, I used distress ink and ink applicators to create a background, starting dark along the edges, and graduating to a pale white moon effect in the center.  I added some white pigment ink to this center so that it would give the white haze around the 'moon.'
  • I white embossed the Fir Forest, and tore some white card stock and added it to create snowy hills.
  • Some spatters of white acrylic paint created the snow.
  • I white embossed the verse from the Oh Christmas Tree Set onto vellum, and attached it.  I attached the panel to a white A2 card front.
I have another card on the Technique Junkies blog today with the same fir forest row of trees.  You can check it out HERE.

I have two cards for your inspiration today.
Card One:
Stamps:

How I made it:
  • I used a rubber brayer with distress inks to add blue and coral to the sky, and to the water.  Before adding the color, I created a circle mask for the moon and used temporary tape to hold it in place.  I used colored pencil to add faint ripples to the water.
  • I inked the Tree Lined hillside stamp with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and used a Misti to stamp it onto a card panel.  I repeated until I got complete coverage.
  • Without reinking, I flipped the card and stamped the image again for the water 'reflection.
  • I stamped the verse from the Warm Fuzzies Sentiments Set onto a scrap piece of cs, cut it out and added it to the card front.
  • I layered and added the panel to a slimline card front.

Card Two:
Stamps:

How I made it:
  • I white embossed the Bare Treeline stamp onto a white panel.  I also stamped it with shaded lilac distress ink.
  • With distress inks and blending brushes, I added color over the images to create a soft background and sky.
  • I stamped the Thinking of You verse onto a scrap and added it to the panel along with some shimmery fiber.  I added the piece to a white slimline card front.
That's it.  I hope you have enjoyed our inspiration for this fabulous release!  Don't forget to leave a comment here and on the other designer's blogs for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Impression Obsession Store!

  • INSIDE:
