Impresson Obsession In Love With Spring Release Hop Day Two

I have three cards for you today.  Each of these cards features a different botanical, and the same Elegant Eucalyptus stamp; each with a unique feel and technique.

Beautiful You

I stamped the Camelia Japonica onto bristol recycled vellum paper, masked it, and stamped the Elegant Eucalyptus along the top.  I masked the image, and stamped second/third generation images of the Elegant Eucalyptus faintly in the background.

I water colored the image with Daniel Smith watercolors. 

I stamped the Beautiful You sentiment with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink to finish the panel, then added it to a pink A2 card, and added some Studio Katia tiny sequins.

Ranunculus Spray

I created the background with a swirl grid stencil and distress ink, adding the ink faintly with an applicator brush.

I stamped the Ranunculus flower, then stamped the Elegant Eucalyptus.  I colored the leaf portions of the stamp with Polychromos colored pencils, then fussy-cut along the bottom of the image and card.  

I stamped the Ranunculus flower again, and colored it with Polychromos colored pencils, fussy-cut it, and added it over the previously stamped image, using foam tape for dimension.

I stamped the Ticking background on a white A2 card, then added the flower panel with foam tape, so that the bottom portion of the ticking background shows.

Some spatters of white acrylic paint, black ink,  and a few Studio Katia droplets finish the card.

Sending Comfort

I 'inked' the Elegant eucalyptus with Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons, and stamped it onto Canson watercolor paper.  I painted the leaves with the same crayons, using a water brush.  I added a haze of green with distress inks and a brush applicator.  I like the way the ink made the image misty and foggy-like.  Just the look I was going for.

I stamped the Fairy Rose onto a scrap of Canson watercolor paper, and also painted that with Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons.  The technique I used to color the rose petals was to rub the crayons onto a ceramic palette, then pick up the colors with my waterbrush, blending as I went.  I did this in my Misti to keep the original outline crisp.

I fussy-cut the rose, and added it over the Eucalyptus.  I stamped the Sending Comfort verse with my favorite, go-to black ink pad, VersaFine Clair nocturne.

Old Is New Time At Impression-Obsession

It's another Old Is New Day at Impression-Obsession.  I have used one of my favorite older verse stamps with a favorite older leaf stamp for my card today.  

Can you tell that I, like so many others in the northern hemisphere, am longing for the return of green?!  

For my card, I used these Impression-Obsession stamps:

I created a background using Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons.  I rubbed various green and blue crayons onto watercolor paper, then spritzed with a generous coating of water.  I used a brush to move the color around as I saw fit.  I dried the paper with my heat tool, and repeated, adding color to areas until I liked the look.  

 
Now, I will tell you, this is not for the faint of heart.  You may have heard it said that when you create with watercolor, your project often looks awful before it starts looking good.  This came really close to the circular file, but I persisted at the advice of many who have gone before me.  And I'm glad I did. 

When everything was dry, I used my neocolor II crayons on my Silhouette 18 stamp.  I spritzed the stamp lightly with water, then rubbed crayons onto the rubber image, then spritzed again and stamped it onto my dry background.  I repeated this a couple of times.  Then I misted the panel, getting it nice and damp, but not dripping wet.  This blurred the images, which later became the images that are soft and faded in the background, giving them the impression of distance.  

Then I repeated coloring the stamp, and stamping more leaves.  This time I used less water, and didn't mist after stamping.  This created more defined images.  As the paper dried, the leaves became more distinguishable. 

Finally, I inked the leaves with VersaFine Claire nocturne ink (I used my Misti for this so I could stamp several times, as the paper is rough), and stamped it on the panel.  I repeated this, then stamped the Art of God verse in the same fashion.

I added some spatters by rubbing the crayon onto a block, then adding water and creating a puddle of intense color.  I dipped a paint brush into it, and spattered it onto my card.  I used acrylic paint and water for the white spatters.

I had some fibers in my stash with these same colors, so added them, then layered with foam tape to a blue panel, then onto a white A2 card.

Inside:

I masked a rectangle, and brushed ink outside it, then stamped faint images of the leaves, and added the
Gentle Thoughts verse.

Chrysanthemum Trio Inspirational Card

Greetings!  Welcome.

And here is yet another card made with an Art Gone Wild Catherine Scanlon designed stamp.  Did I mention how much I love these stamps?  I couldn't help myself, and had to have this one, also, Chrysanthemum Trio #AGC3-2744. 

 I stamped the flowers onto watercolor paper, and water colored them with Caron D'Ache watercolor crayons, then added lots of Derwent Inktense pencils to deepen and make the colors more bold.  As it nears fall, I'm looking forward to those rich, jewel colors in nature.  Just thought I'd give us a little preview here.

The verse is from Penny Black's Hope Shines clear stamp set.  Some clear droplets from Studio Katia finish off my card.
