Watercolor With Caran D'Ache Neocolor II

Hello, and happy Sunday!

I have this card on the Technique Junkies blog today.  I thought I would share it here with full directions on how I made it.

I used the SD708 Something Different  stamp.  Here's how I made my card today.
  •  Keeping the card panel in the Misti, I added lots and LOTS of pigment from the Neocolor crayons.  I placed the crayons up against the image, then added water so that it would drip down.  I had my Misti propped up on m
y desk at an angle, so that the drips would run down the paper.
  •  I repeated, adding yellows, oranges, and reds/pinks until I was happy with the look.

  •  I used my heat tool to completely dry the panel.  When dry, I inked the image (still in the Misti) with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  I stamped it three or four times, to get a full, dark impression, as the paper was warped and textured a bit, and had lots of color on it.
  •  Some ink spatters finish off the card.
And that's it!   Pretty easy, really.  And, oh so FUN!  I love playing with messy mediums and seeing how far I can stretch my comfort zone!
I am adding my card to the DTGD Challenge (Bev's/Texas Grammy) at Splitcoaststamper.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget to use my code, TJ10Lynda, if you are shopping at the Technique Junkies store!

Old Is New At Impression Obsession - Slimline Watercolor Leaves

Slim Line Watercolor Leaves Card
With Caran D'Ache And Neocolor II

IO Stamps Links:

As you may know, I just love, love, love the Cover-A-Card stamps from Impression Obsession.  This Fancy Leaves stamp is one of the very first I purchased, soooo many years ago.  I use it for every season, and it has probably seen more ink than any of my other stamps!  I now have quite a collection of the CAC stamps.
For my card today, I used Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons. I placed my Fancy Leaves stamp onto my craft mat, rubber side up, and spritzed it lightly with water.  I then took some Caran D'Ache crayons in greens, blues, and purple, and rubbed them directly onto the stamp.  I colored the entire stamp, then misted it again when I was finished.
I placed a panel of natural card stock onto the stamp, and pressed evenly all over the back of it.  I had to repeat a portion of it, as the card stock panel is longer than the stamp, since I made a slimline card.  Most of the CAC stamps will cover an entire A2 size card in one go.
I love removing the stamp and seeing the results.  I misted my stamp pretty well, so it resulted in a watercolor look, which I was going for.  I added some spatters in the same colors, and brushed some of the color along the edges of the panel.

I layered the panel onto a 7 1/2 x 3 3/4 natural card, and added the verse panel.

Inside, I inked the stamp with distress inks in similar colors, and stamped off a couple of times, to create a background.  I added a natural panel over it, leaving a border.  The inks give a distinctively look than the Neocolor II's.

I hope you enjoy our Old Is New feature.  It's fun to share ideas with our older, well-loved stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Be sure to check out the other designer's cards on the IO blog post HERE.

Hollyhocks Hugs - Die Cut Obsession

Time for another Impression-Obsession Die Cut Obsession post.   I have a card to share with you today.  You can find the other's designer's projects HERE.

For my card, I used Impression-Obsession stamps and dies:
Hollyhocks DIE169-R
Hugs DIE516-A
All-In-One Frames Rectangles 2 - DIE291WW (inside)
Boho Star H23028 stamp
French Script H9396 stamp

I started by creating a background on white card stock, brushing on green distress ink, then stamping the Boho Star and French Script intermittently on it.  I die-cut the hollyhocks from this panel, then cut it with an oval die. I added some blue distress ink along the edges.  I layered this oval with the die openings onto another oval which was covered with double sided tape.  So now the back was on the finished piece, and the openings of the hollyhocks were sticky from the tape.

I then die-cut the Hollyhocks again, only from white bristol card stock, and painted them with Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons.  When dry, I inlaid these colored flowers into the openings on the finished panel with the openings.  I added more touches of color as needed to the flowers after they were placed on the panel.

I die-cut the Hugs die three times with white, and one time with some card stock that I had created with my neocolor II crayons, placing that one on top.  I added the stacked 'hugs' to the finished panel.  I added the completed oval to a blue A2 card front, then added some shimmer and sparkle with my Spectrum Noir clear shimmer pen.  A silk ribbon bow finish off the front.

Inside:

I just used the negative part of the leftover white die cut piece, and used it as a stencil with some distress ink brushed on.

For the frame, I used IO's die
All-In-One Frames Rectangles 2 - DIE291WW

I used this hollyhocks die in a previous post HERE, using entirely different colors and techniques.  Click this LINK to check it out.  I used distress oxides on that one, and did not inlay it.

I hope you are enjoying this new feature from Impression-Obsession, and getting inspired to use those dies you have on your cards.

Magenta Card With Distress Oxide Inks

I had so much fun playing with my new distress oxide inks today!  I kept putting off purchasing them, but finally did it...and I am so glad I did.  I love, love, love them!  I churned out several background panels today during my play time.  Here is the first finished project.....
I used a Magenta stamp 040327-N, and embossed it onto one of my distress oxide background panels, then cut it out.  I layered it onto a blue card stock panel, on which I had stamped some script.

On a blue A2 card, I used gel medium to attach white tissue paper with tiny silver speckles in it.  To attach, I first wadded up the tissue, then opened it up and used gel medium to attach the tissue to the card front.  This created crevices and texture.  I used my Clarity brushes and distress inks to add colors to the tissue paper card front.
Here is a close-up of the tissue paper and also the distress oxide stamped panel....
I colored the butterflies with Caran D'Ache neocolor II crayons.

I am adding my card to the Happy Little Stampers mixed media challenge, which is to use tissue paper on your creation.

I hope you are enjoying these last couple of days of August.  Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,
