Happy Saturday to you! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Today I have a CAS card for the mid-way post for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
Have your joined in the fun there yet? If not, check out THIS post for some design team inspiration. Then, make a CAS card and submit it to the challenge. Who knows, you just might win a $20 gift certificate from our sponsor, 1,2,3 Stitch! AND, if you would like to be considered for a guest designer spot on a future challenge, just add GDT to your submission. The deadline for the challenge is 8 PM Friday, April 5th.
I used:
Penny Black Jonquil 3587K
Special Thoughts 30-338
Arteza Brush Markers
Polychromos Colored Pencils
On Strathmore smooth bristol, I stamped the Jonquils, using my Misti and antique linen distress ink. I used Arteza real brush markers to add color to each petal and leaf, gradually adding colors and building them up, sometimes misting in between with water to get the color moving. I repeated until I reached the desired look.
When the image was dry - ok, I hurried this part along with my always handy heat tool, because I'm impatient -I brushed some wild honey ink in the image area, fading it out as it went further into the background.
I added the verse, from the Special Thoughts set, with Ranger archival fern green ink.
I added some spatters, then cut the panel down, having some of the flower peek over the cut line by fussy-cutting that area.
I added my panel to a green A2 card with foam tape for dimension.
On to the inside:
That's it! CAS and easy-peasy. Penny Black brushstroke stamps are my favorites!
I am adding my card to these challenges:
Allsorts Challenge - Favorite stamp, image or die
The Flower Challenge - For the ladies
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Feminine/girly
Sunday Stamps - Sketch
I hope to see you over on the Penny Black blog. Thanks for visiting my blog today. I appreciate you taking the time to stop in and comment.
Blessings,
It's time for a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme this month is CAS (Clean and Simple). This is not easy for me, but I managed with my card for the challenge. Hey, this is about as CAS as I get!
Stamps: Penny Black 'Bubbly' 30-012
Penny Black 'Critter Party' 30-013
On Canson mixed media paper ,
(see below for special deal)** I stamped the kitty with VersaFine Claire nocturne ink. I used Tim Holtz distress inks to paint the image.
I used my Micron Pigma pen to draw a frame around the image. I masked it off, then brushed twisted citron distress ink around the outside of the frame.
I wanted my card to be single layer for a challenge requirement, also to keep it CAS, so creating a framed element without using layers gives the impression of layers and dimension.
Just three little black pearls, and that is that. I did make an inside, keeping that simple, as well.
I hope you found some inspiration in my card, and will join us for this fun challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. You have from today until Friday, March 29th to enter your project(s). Who knows, you just may win a gift certificate to 1,2,3 Stitch. If you are interested in being a guest designer for future challenge, add 'GDT' to your entry.
** For that special on the Canson mixed media paper, just use my link HERE to get to Blick Art Supplies. They have a special now on the Canson mixed media paper pads. The 9 x 12 pad offer is buy one, get one same size and type free. While supply lasts!! He has free shipping right now on $35+ orders. And his prices are usually lower than most.
This is lovely paper. I use it often for colored pencil, or when doing light water coloring, as in my card today. It handles water well, and takes pencil beautifully.
I am adding my card to these challenges:
Little Red Wagon - Stamp something you love (PB stamps/cats)
Simon Says Wednesday - Anything goes
Watercooler Challenges - All about occasions
Freshly Made Sketches -
The Library Challenge
I hope you are finding time to create something beautiful this weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by. I always appreciate your visits and encouraging comments.
Blessings,
Hello peeps! I'm winding down my Sunday with some relaxing stamping and card making. Today's card was inspired by a poster challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
So, as you can see, this is a CAS card. I challenged myself to make a card on the SCS challenge, and to make it a clean and simple card. It is very difficult for me to leave so much white space, but I'm kinda proud that I was able to do it. One layer, and CAS! Wow, score one for me!
I used Impression-Obsession stamps:
Bird Variety Set WP921
Little Songbird Set CL931
Cover-A-Card Music CC-029
And:
Daniel Smith Watercolors
Strathmore Bristol Vellum Paper
Silver Black Velvet brush
Tim Holtz distress inks
On a white bristol A2 size card front, I stamped the bird from the Bird Variety Set WP921, using Memento rich cocoa ink. I proceeded to water color the bird with my Daniel Smith Watercolors. I took my time, layering my colors. I did keep the card in my Misti as I painted, and when I finished painting, and it was dry, I stamped over it again to bring back some of the details that had gotten faded from the water.
I made a mask for the bird, and brushed on some TH distress inks in worn lipstick and abandoned coral mixed together. I also inked a portion of the Cover-A-Card Music CC-029 and stamped off to remove some of the intensity, then stamped on the card in the corner where the ink blending and bird are.
I stamped the verse from the Little Songbird Set CL931 next to the bird with the same Memento ink I had stamped in.

| INSIDE |
For the inside, I added a soft pink panel. I sponged some ink, stamped the music, and the chirp, chirp and tweet, tweet from the Little Songbird Set CL931 set.
I refrained from going back and adding more to the front, or even embellishing it. I do like it, I have to admit. It is just really difficult for me to do it! I really did have fun with it!
I am adding my card to these challenges:
The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge
Casology - Wave (wavy verse)
Crafty Creations - Anything goes
The Library Challenge - The Note (music notes)
Watercooler Wednesday Challenge - Feminine anything goes
Pile It On - Pretty in pink
AAA Cards Challenge - One corner, optional twist: music
So, that's a wrap, peeps. I will see you back here tomorrow for Impression-Obsession's Die-Cut Obsession Day. I have two cards from one die set for you tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping in. I hope you had a relaxing weekend, and I wish you a very safe and healthy and happy week ahead.
Blessings,
Hello lovely peeps!
I'm back today with a CAS card. That's right, I actually did keep it clean and simple....no easy task for me. But I wanted to enter a couple of challenges, soooo.....Here's my card.
The embossing folder is Cuttlebug. The verse stamp is from a clear set by Printworks.
I embossed the image into watercolor paper. I used my FineTec gold watercolor pigments to paint the star and made a very light wash with the gold paint for the village and hillside. I embossed the verse with Ranger gold embossing powder. Layered onto a gold A2 card. And that's all she wrote. The only embellishment I added was a lovely studded gemstone in the center of the star. I just couldn't leave it alone!
I am adding my card to these challenges:
AAA Cards Challenge - CAS Christmas
Splitcoaststampers Free For All Challenge - Favorite December Holiday
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out these challenges. There are lots of amazing cards there.
Blessings,
lynda
Today I had a play with my Polychromos colored pencils, and some Tim Holtz distress inks. I used stamps from Simon Says Stamp! Birthday Celebration set.
This little elephant is just so adorable, and I needed a birthday card for a little one whose birthday is coming up soon.
I stamped the images with a very light gray distress ink, then colored it in the no-line coloring fashion with colored pencils. I used distress inks for the phrase, and also for the brushed color along the edges. Top-fold A2 size card, with some ink spatters, and a few Nuvo Jewel Drops.
I am adding my card to the The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge .
Other challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Stamp it!
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything goes
Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge - Just stamp it!
Less Is More - Lime & royal blue
AAA Cards Challenge - Creatures great and small
So glad you stopped by today. See you tomorrow for the 30 day color challenge!
Blessings,
lynda
Hello, and welcome! Today I took another stab at a CAS card...
For me, this is difficult. I like to add pretty embellishments, background interest, yadda, yadda. It is difficult for me to leave so much space. Having said that, I kind of like the look.
I started with an A2 top folded light gray card. I stamped the rose (from my unmounted stash, so I don't know who it is. I believe it may be Me and Carrie Lou), and wishing you well (Hero Arts from one of their old wood sets). I colored the rose with Polychromos colored pencils. I added one tiny embellishment...on one of the leaves, a sparkling crystal by Studio Katia.
I masked the rose, and added the green misty background with a Clarity brush and Tim Holtz distress ink. The dotted borders along the left side are from an Impression-Obsession clear set (WP-31 Borders). I added the dots with one of my Micron fine point Zentangle pens.
That's it. Really clean, really simple (for me). I am adding my card to these challenges:
AAA Cards Challenge - Masking
Casology Challenge - Prickly
Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - Flower
The Paper Players - CAS coloring
Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your last few days of August!
Blessings,
lynda
