Welcome to Day 5 of the  Impression-Obsession Spring Release Celebration!   I hope you have been enjoying the new stamps, and the cards and projects from the design team.  

My card today features:

I love the whimsical flowers on this Garden Grows image.  I embossed it with black onto bristol card stock, and colored the flowers with Arteza Real Brush Markers  for their vibrant colors.

For the Spring Definition square, I embossed it, and ran the Arteza brush markers across the embossed words. 

For the background of the card front, I stamped the Beauty Text intermittently.  I stamped off so that the image would be light, so as not to compete with the image panels.

Big Butterfly

It was a cold, blustery day today.  I thought about my garden, and sitting in my back yard paradise during the spring and summer months, and how much I miss that.  So, I decided to do the next best thing, and play in my studio.  

I've had this Big Butterfly stamp from Technique Junkies for a while, and decided today was the day she would fly.

On gray card stock, using my Misti and TH distress inks, I inked the Big Butterfly stamp with various shades of ink, and stamped it several times, until I achieved the color and intensity I wanted.  

I used some distress gray ink to distress the edges, and create spatters on the card.  For the strips on the right side of the card, I distressed a piece of the gray card stock with the same colors as the butterfly, then stamped the wing design onto it.  The other strip is just dyed with a gray distress ink pad.

Impression-Obsession Spring Release Blog Hop - Day 4

I kept my card really simple today, as the image really steals the show.  Just a simple verse is all that is needed.

I created the background on matte coated card stock with a rubber brayer and a Kaleidoscope multi-colored stamp pad.  I love the spring colors in this pad.  A strip of black and white patterned paper along the left edge adds a bit of interest.

On pink card stock, I stamped the Madam Hardy Rose with antique linen distress ink, so that I could get the no-line coloring look.  I colored it with Polychromos colored pencils.

I stamped the Boho Star and French Text on the background with pink distress ink, stamping off first for a faint image.  Then I distressed the edges.

I stamped the Gentle Thoughts verse with Claire Versafine Nocturne ink, and added some pearl gems.

My card today features:

On bristol card stock I stamped the Love Bird image, coloring her with Polychromos colored pencils.  I added the verse with black ink.  For the distressing along the edges, I used distress inks.  

The panel is mounted on a lime green A2 card.  I added some gems for a little fun.  That's it...easy-peasy!

On natural card stock, I stamped the Boho Star and French Text with distress ink, then distressed the edges, and added a panel of pp for a 'table.'

I stamped Beautiful Books on scrap card stock, and colored with Polychromos colored pencils.  I fussy-cut the image, and added it to the card with foam tape for dimension. 

Some gems give it a finishing touch.

Hugs & Kisses Snowman

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge this month is Anything Goes, with optional 'something new.'  I decided to go with the option, and was thinking new snowfall.  Or...new way to use a Christmas stamp after Christmas!  I love challenging myself to make my stamps go further.

I used the Penny Black stamps from the sets Jolly Friends, Special Thoughts, and Winter Whites & Greens.
I wanted the snow, and snowman, but not the Christmas elements.  So I covered them with hearts!  Now it could actually be a Valentine card!

I stamped the snowman onto bristol vellum card stock, and water colored with my favorite watercolor pencils, Derwent Inktense.  I love these pencils.  They are different from typical watercolor pencils, in that they contain actual ink, not paint pigment.  They act differently when water coloring.  Once they are activated with water, they are only workable for a short while.  They dry permanently, so once they're dry, they cannot be reactivated.  I love this about them.  I reach for my Inktense pencils more than any other.

I masked the snowman, and stamped the tree with Archival green inks.  I distressed the edges with TH distress ink, and added splatters.  I added the verse with VersaFine Claire ink, distressed it, and added it with foam tape for dimension.

I used die-cut hearts from various dies to cover the ornaments on the tree, and the mistletoe in the little snowman's hands.  All was added to a brown A2 card.  

For the finishing touch, I used an oldie-but-goodie stamp pad, The Essential Glue Pad, to stamp snowflakes and added ultra-fine crystal glitter.  I love the way these add the right amount of sparkle to the card, and snowflakes,without making it too busy.

New Beginnings Challenge - Baby Bunny

Happy New Year!  Today starts the New Beginnings Challenge at Impression-Obsession.   This is a fun challenge...new year, new beginnings.  Lots of possibilities here.  
For my inspiration, I decided to make a baby card.  

I used Impression-Obsession stamps:  Baby Bunny D15101 and Babies Are Special C20300 (verse), and the die I used is All-In-One Frames Rectangle 2 DIE291-WW. 

On cream card stock I stamped the bunny, and colored her with Copic markers.  I die cut dies from pink dotted and brown card stock, and layered them onto the image, then onto a brown A2 card with foam tape. 

I stamped the verse onto the same cream card stock, and cut it into a strip.  I distressed the edges of the strip with Vintage Photo distress ink (I also distressed the bunny image with the same ink).

I fashioned a bow from some ribbon, and attached it with glue dots to the upper left of the frame.
