Ponder Anew - Distress Inks With Watercolor

Hello, and welcome.  Today I have a tutorial video for a card using distress ink techniques with watercolor using the Misti stamping tool and Impression Obsession stamps.  I have had requests to show how I do this, so today's blog has some details, and the rest is in my YouTube video...

Impression Obsession stamp links:
Chinese Lantern
Cover A Card French Text
Boho Star
Ponder Anew

I started with Arteza watercolor paper in my mini Misti.  I added some distress ink, and stamped the lantern image.  I kept adding colors, and using a waterbrush to pull the color from the edges.

I added some distress refill ink to a ceramic tile for a palette, and painted the inks onto the lanterns, creating depth and light areas.  I used Polychromos colored pencils to add more details, depth, and shading.  I used the Misti to stamp again after coloring to bring back the details.

The background is distress inks applied with the waterbrush, then the French Text and Boho Star were added, along with the verse stamped on a separate panel and added.  Some distressing was also applied along the edges.  This is all shown in detail in the video.

I hope you like my card, and will watch my video.
Please give me a thumbs up on YouTube if you like it.

Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession - Coffee & Cocoa

Welcome to Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession.  My card today features some of the new IO dies from the latest die release.
Dies:  Coffee & Cocoa DIE882-V
         Typewriter Sentiments DIE905-Y
         Small Snowflakes DIE100-F

I just adore this Coffee  Cocoa  set!  They're just the right
http://shrsl.com/1v354

size to fit two on a card, and still have room for more elements.  With the fun spoon, marshmallows, and whipped cream you can create some yummy winter treats!

I used a red A2 card base, and layered white , then a strip of red and white patterned paper.  I used a Copic marker to color one of the stripes on the paper blue to match the blue card stock I layered on next.

I assembled the cups with their treats, and some snowflakes, and added them to the cups with foam tape.  A baker's twine ribbon is tie around one of the handles.

The 'merry' is from theTypewriter Sentiments, layered onto a piece of blue card stock.

And the inside:

I love the way red, white, and aqua look together.  One of my favorite Christmas color combos!

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Now for more inspiration, be sure to check out the other designer's blogs.  You can find links to their projects HERE, on the IO blog

Christmas Rose Card

Hello, and welcome to my blog.  Today I am sharing my post from the Technique Junkies blog.  You can find the post HERE.

Technique Junkies stamps:
     Christmas Rose JT025
Victorian Greetings Set of 6  JT030
A Colorful Life Swirl Grid Stencil
Gifts of Christmas Set of 5

I used watercolor and Polychromos colored pencils to color the rose image.  I painted the image, then added details, shading, and highlights with my pencils.  I love Polychromos pencils, as I can add layers upon layers without getting a waxy build-up that I get from other pencils.  I added some Studio Katia sparkling crystals for embellishment.

Penny Black Fancy Cat Die Card

Happy Saturday!  Just stopping in today with a quick CAS card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
I used Penny Black's Fancy Cat die to cut the kitties from black, white, and striped paper.

I added them to a layered card front, with a black and white string, some black sequins, and a strip of striped pp along the left edge.  The verse is from the PB Salutations clear set.

On the inside, I used the Special Thoughts clear set.  I cut the 'we will' off so it would just say 'miss you.'

Impression Obsession Halloween or Fall Colors Challenge

Hello, and welcome to the Impression Obsession Halloween or Fall Colors Challenge!  I couldn't decide, so I made one of each!  I used the same card layout, but different stamps and papers.

Here are my cards.  Directions are below both of them.
                    Stamps:  Holiday Icons CL980
                                  Life Stuff Sentiments CL491
                                  Pumpkin Kisses CL979 (inside)
                                  Pumpkins CL978  (inside)
                 Stamps:  Pumpkin Kisses CL979
                               Holiday Icons CL980
                               Pumpkins CL978 (inside)

I used patterned paper from my stash for both cards and Impression Obsession stamps.  I stamped the images onto white card stock, die cut them, and colored them with Arteza real brush markers.

I created the banners with the words from scrap card stock, stamped them, then cut the 'v' from the one side, then tucked it under the image, which I had foam taped to the card's front.  Buttons and bows from bakers twine finish them off.

Technique Junkies October, 2019 Stamp Release Celebration

Welcome to the Technique Junkies October Release Day!

All of the October 2019 New Release stamps
are 15% off through October 8th!
You don't need a code, just add them to your cart
and the discount will be applied when you check out.

AND, if you use my code, TJ10Lynda, you will get an additional 10% off.
That's 25% off the new release items
through October 8th when you use my code!

I have three cards for your inspiration today.

Card 1 - Joyeux Noel Cardinal

I stamped the Cardinal  image onto gray card stock, and colored it with Faber Castell Pitt Pastel pencils and pastel sticks.  I added the lines of the image back in after coloring, as the pastels do cover them up quite a bit.

I used an 01 Micron pen for this step.  I could have left the image in my Misti, and colored it there, then overstamped it again when finished, but I removed it before thinking of that.

I drew in some branches in the background with the pastel pencils, and smudged them to blur them, so they appear in the distance.

For the verse, I used the Joyeux Noel from the Victorian Greetings set, stamping it with festive berries distress ink onto a scrap of gray, then cutting it down.

I added the image with foam tape to a gray A2 card, then   added a die cut frame from a darker gray.  I added the verse, and a button with some string tied through into a bow.

Inside:

Card 2 - Poinsettia Happy Holidays
Stamps:  Poinsettia Set of 4 SS099
Victorian Greetings Set of 6  JT030

I stamped the Poinsettia images onto white card stock, and colored them with colored pencils.  I use Polychromos, as I like to add lots of layers, and these pencils take the layering beautifully, without building up a waxy bloom that prevents you from adding more color or layers.

I fussy-cut the images and set them aside while I prepared my card layout.  On an A2 card I added a layer of ivory card stock.  On another, slightly smaller, panel of ivory card stock, I added a coral panel with string and bow, and another lighter coral pp.  Onto that, I added die cut circles and frame.  I added the fussy-cut poinsettias to this arrangement with foam tape.

I stamped the verse from the Victorian Greetings set onto a scrap of the ivory, lined it with coral, and added it with foam tape.

Some clear drops from Studio Katia finish off the card front.

For the inside:

Card 3 - Mischievous Kitty Under Christmas Tree
Stamps:  Meowy Christmas JT029
Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 (verse)

I stamped the Meowy Christmas image by inking it with various colors of distress inks.  I used distress inks to watercolor the images.  I did this in my Misti, so that when it had dried I restamped the image to bring back the lines.

Some colored pencil shading and highlights finish off the coloring.

I stamped the Merry & Bright verse from the Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 with VersaMark Nocturne ink, and embossed it, then cut it out and added it to the card.

Some layering with various card stocks, gold pearl embellishments from Studio Katia,  and that was that.
