Owl Thank You

TGIF!  Today I thought I'd post another card using another of the Impression Obsession fall dies, along with other older dies, before we come back on Monday and Tuesday to showcase the IO Winter Die Release with the IO Winter Die Hop!

IO Dies/Stamp links:
Owl DIE866-Y
Smile DIE378-E
Smile Clear Stamp Set MC665
Stitch Tag #2 DIE874-Y
Branch DIE077-L

This was a fun card to make.  I used some patterned paper for the A2 card panel, and to cut the Stitch Tag die.  I attached that with foam tape.

I cut the owl die from brown, white and blue.  I hand colored the feet and the beak.  I added the Branch die to the tag, and after assembling the owl, added him to the tag with foam tape, so that he appears to be standing on the branch.

A silk ribbon through the tag hole, and a stamped Thank You sentiment from the Smile Clear Stamp Set finish off the card front.

Inside:

I hope you had a good week, and are looking forward to a fun weekend.  Or a relaxing one.  How about a relaxing and fun weekend!

Be sure to come back Monday and Tuesday for the Impression Obsession Winter Die Release Hop!  We have been having so much fun with these fabulous dies, and can't wait to share lots of inspiration with you.

Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession - Monarch Frame

Welcome to Monday morning on my blog!  I have another card using the new fall Impression Obsession dies today.

IO dies/stamps links below:
Monarch Frame DIE864-YY
Butterfly Counts D1379

With yellow patterned paper, I created an A2 card.  I embossed the Butterfly Counts verse onto the card front with black.

With another piece of the yellow patterned paper, I adhered a die cut Monarch Frame butterfly.  I used a Tombow marker to color in the wing areas.

I used a VersaMark embossing pad over the entire Monarch Frame panel, making sure to really get enough ink onto the entire panel.  I used clear embossing powder to emboss.  This gave the image a very dramatic, glossy finish in real life.  The photo really doesn't do it justice.

I adhered this with foam tape for added dimension.

Some black liquid enamel dots finish the embellishing.

I hope you like my card, and are finding some inspiration here.  If you have not seen the new fall dies, head on over to the Impression Obsession blog and check out our  design team projects on the fall die release celebration.

Then head to the Impression Obsession store, where you will see all of the dies.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I appreciate your visits and comments.

Butterfly Suite

Welcome to my Saturday morning post!  Today I have an inspiration card for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  The theme this month is Anything Goes...with the option of something old and/or neglected.  This stamp is one of PB's older stamps, and has been neglected for some time in my stash.  So, this was the perfect time to show it some inky love.
To further carry the 'old' theme, I distressed the card stock after I stamped the PB Butterfly Suite image, using vintage photo distress ink.  I also tore along the right edge.  I love the vintage feel this technique gives.

I watercolored the image, and added the panel to a panel of grape card stock, thin onto a kraft A2 card.  The happy birthday came from one of my older PB clear sets, Critter Party

I added some gold cording, and some sequins for a little bling and interest.

Inside:  I used the Perfect Pairing set for the images, and distress inks in vintage photo and dusty concord.

I hope you will join us at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.  You just might win a $20 gift certificate to our sponsors, 1,2,3 Stitch!

If you would like to be eligible to be a guest designer on a future challenge, please add 'GDT' after your name in the link-up.

Thanks for visiting today.  Enjoy your weekend!

More Falling Leaves

Today I have a couple of bonus cards for your fall inspiration.  I posted a card in yesterday's post for the Impression Obsession Falling Leaves Challenge.  As I mentioned in that post, I did some 'second generation' stamping of the background leaf stamp on a couple of other panels of card stock.  I also created some watercolor smooshing backgrounds with distress inks using the same colors.

Today's cards feature those panels and backgrounds.....

 Card 1:

Impression Obsession stamps/dies links:
Stitch Tag DIE874-Y

Branch DIE007-L
Fancy Leaves C224 stamp

I inked and stamped the Fancy Leaves stamp as described in my previous post HERE onto ivory card stock, then mounted that onto an A2 card front.
I cut the Branch from the Stitch Tag die, then from a piece of card stock onto which I 'smooshed' distress inks in the same colors as my background.

I inserted the positive of the Branch die into the negative I cut from the tag.  I added a strip of the original background paper along the left edge of the tag, tied a ribbon which I had dyed with distress inks, and used foam tape to give it dimension on the card.

Card 2:

Stitch Tag DIE874-Y
Branch DIE007-L
Fancy Leaves C224 stamp
Hugs DIE516-A

This card is assembled the same as above, only I used the watercolor background for the tag, and the ivory for the branch.

Have you checked out the Impression Obsession Falling Leaves Challenge yet?  If not, head on over and see the artful inspiration from our amazing design team.  And make a card to play along.  You could win a $25 gift certificate to the Impression Obsession store, and have your card featured on the IO blog!
You have until September 17th to play along.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Impression Obsession Falling Leaves Challenge

Welcome to Impression Obsession's Falling Leaves Challenge!  Fall is definitely moving in, and our leaves here are just hinting at turning color.  But some are falling already!

I used my favorite leaf background stamp from Impression Obsession.  Distress inks in fall colors really show off this image.

IO Stamps/Dies links:
Fancy Leaves CC224
Stitch Tag DIE798-Y
Branch DIE007-L
Life Stuff Sentiments CL491

I started by stamping ivory card stock with the Fancy Leaves image.  I used my mini distress ink pads to apply color randomly onto the stamp.  I used my fingers to dab at the inks so that there were no harsh lines between colors, and so that they blended well from one color to the next.

When I had the stamp completely covered with ink, I misted it with a fine mist of water, then placed the card stock onto the stamp, and pressed on it to get the color onto the paper.  I always love when I peel a stamp off and see the results!  It's like magic.  I misted the already used stamp a second time, and pressed another card panel onto it for a second-generation stamping of the leaves.  I used that on another card.  I also added some ink spatters.

When the panel was dry, I die cut the Stitch Tag die from it, and used foam tape to add it to an A2 card front.  I added a strip of the same paper along the left edge, with a brown narrow strip.

I cut the Branch die from vellum, and added it to the tag.  I cut the banner from the Stitched Tag DIE987-Y and stamped the birthday verse on it.  I put the die cut back into the die after stamping, and shortened the banner to fit the verse.

Inside
I added the verse with foam tape.  Some string through the hole of the tag, and some copper sequins finish the front of my card.

Inside:
I used the negative part of the die cut from the tag to create a framed area for writing, and added a card stock cut branch.

We would love for you to join us by entering your card in this Falling Leaves Challenge!
You can find details about the challenge, along with some pretty amazing inspiration from my fellow design team peeps, on the Impression Obsession blog.

Your entry qualifies you for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Impression Obsession store, and your card will be showcased on the IO blog!

I hope you are inspired by my card.  I couldn't stop myself and made three others, which I will be posting over the next few days.

Boo Kitties

I'm back today with another die card using new dies from the Impression Obsession Fall Die Release.  Just can't stop playing with these dies!!  I am sharing a halloween card idea today....

IO Stamps used Links:
Two Kitties DIE876-W
Stitch Tag 2 DIE874-Y
Tree Frame DIE205-YY
Hill Landscape Layers  DIE343-T

Oh, I had fun with this card!  Even the inside has a kitty in it.

I started by layering some patterned paper to a lavendar A2 card.

I created a tag with the Stitch Tag die, added some clear multi medium matte for drops, and distressed it with distress inks dusty concord and hickory smoke.  I used the Hill Landscapes Layers die cut for the till.  I used a reverse circle mask for the moon, and brushed on squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, and carved pumpkin distress inks.

I added a branch from the Tree Frame, and one of the Two Kitties.  Some yellow and white string through the tag hole, sequins, and handwritten 'Boo' finish the front.

Inside:
I cut another tag from pp, and added the other kitty, the banner from the tag set, and some sequins.  I hand-wrote Happy Halloween.

I hope you are inspired by my card today.  And I hope you have enjoyed our cards and projects for the fall die release!  Today is the last day for the 25% off sale, so if you haven't shopped yet, be sure to get your order in by midnight tonight!

HOPE IS STRONGER
Pumpkin SD986
Hope Is Stronger SDX145

I white embossed the pumpkin onto kraft card stock, then brushed on distress ink, and stamped parts of the verse stamp and the flourish stamp for the background.  I colored the pumpkin with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils, then added white charcoal pencil.  I white embossed the verse, then added the panel to a white A2 card front.  Some brown and white spatters finish it off.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT APPLES
Apples JT022
Proverbs

I stamped the Apples onto bristol vellum paper, and colored them with Polychromos colored pencils.  For the background, I applied Faber Castell soft pastels with cotton balls.  I stamped the verse with black ink, and layered it onto a blue A2 card.  Some clear droplets from Studio Katia finish off the card.

IN MY PRAYERS LEAF BORDER
Autumn Framed Sentiments Set of 5  SS112
In My Prayers
Autumn Set of 6 SS078

To start, I used a brush applicator to apply twisted citron and mowed lawn distress inks along the top of a white cardstock panel.
I white embossed one of the borders from the Autumn Framed Sentiments set, and the You're in my prayers verse over the green area I had created with the ink.  I clear embossed a leaf from the Autumn set of 6.  To do this, I placed the stamp in my Misti.  I added the distress ink colors, then added a final coat of VersaMark and stamped that last.  I used clear embossing powder, and fussy-cut the leaf.  I added a ribbon, and the leaf with some foam tape.

THANKFUL FOR YOU
Autumn Framed Sentiments Set of 5  SS112

I stamped both borders from the set with second generation ink, stamping them back to back.  I added distressing with a brush applicator.  I embossed the Thankful for you verse from the set with Memento rich cocoa ink, followed by a coat of VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder.  Some copper sequins give the finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed my cards and have come away inspired.  Don't forget to add my code, TJ10Lynda, to your order for an additional 10% off your order!
