Brush Tulips

Hello friends.  Penny Black's challenge is still open, so you have time to get your card in.  The theme, as always, is Anything Goes.  The twist this month is 'flowers.'  My favorite theme.  Here's my card for your inspiration....
All stamps are Penny Black, of course.  They are older stamps, from way back, but still so very lovable.  PB's stamps never go out of style.
The tulips are Brush Tulips 2835K, and the verse is from the clear set Salutations 30-014.

I reached waaayyy back for my technique on these tulips today, to a class I taught at my store several years ago.  I called it faux embossing.  Not sure if it really had a name, or what it was.

Nonetheless, this is how I did it:
- Stamp the image with purple (or any color) ink and let it dry.
- Stamp the image again, only with white pigment ink, over the top of the previous image, only just a wee bit to the right or left and down a tad.  This gives the image that faux embossed look.  I used ColorBox white for it's rich coverage and 'whiteness.'
- That's it.  I know, right?  Easy-peasy.

I cut the panel with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eighteen (another oldie but goodie - I still love my Nestabilities dies).  I brushed some ink along the edges, and layered it onto a purple panel, then onto a purple A2 card.

I embossed a vellum strip with the verse with white embossing powder, and wrapped it around the panel.

INSIDE:  Same process, only this time I tried the white first, then the purple over it.  And I kinda shifted a bit too much, and the shadow is off, so it doesn't look like embossing, but I am rolling with it anyways.

I hope you like my card, and will try this technique.  I'd love to see what you make if you do.

Be sure to check out the mid-way posts on the Penny Black Saturday Challenge HERE by the other design team gals, and play along with us.  Who knows, you could just win a $20 gift certificate to 1,2,3 Stitch.  You have until March 1st to enter.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Modsquad Challenge Blog - floral
Penny Black At Allsorts - Anything goes optional tags
