Impression Obsession Old Is New - Nature Walk

It's Old Is New Day at Impression Obsession today.  We have each chosen older stamps from the IO line to use on our cards.

I am using:
Acorns SS-1141-F (Inside)

Here's how I made my card:
  • On watercolor paper, I stamped the Nature Walk image with Memento rich cocoa ink.  This a permanent ink that will not run when it gets wet.  I like that the brown ink is not as dark as the black, and is not as harsh with the earthy colors I used.
  • I painted the images with Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolors, layering colors to achieve depth.  I added shadows to the leaves with gray watercolor.
  • For the background, I mixed some colors to get a grayish brown, then painted it on the background.  I used lots of water for this, and added the paint in streaks.
  •  I added the Warm My Heart verse with the same Memento ink.

As you can see, I used some rather muted fall jewel tones on my card today.

If you would like to see this image colored with more vivid, traditional fall colors, see my blog post HERE.

And don't forget about this month's Autumn Colors challenge.  You have until October 5th to enter, for your chance to win a gift certificate to the IO store!!  Details are on the IO post HERE.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

  2. Lynda this is such a lovely card. The stamps you have used all work well together, the heart in the leaf is such a nice touch. The background has come out so well, I am pretty sure I would have ruined the card if I had tried to do that. You have skills :)

Thank you very much for your lovely card and entering it into our challenge. Good luck with the prize draw.

Stay healthy, happy, keep crafting and Creating Joy :)
