Love Is All We Need Valentine's Card

Valentine's Day is about four weeks away, but I got these new stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp, and couldn't wait to use them.  I actually made hubby's card early this year!  Now the difficult part is holding onto it until then.  I want to give it to him now!
This was a really fun card for me to make. I used Simon Says Stamps Love clear set and SSS Roses For You clear set, and Simon Says Stamp love die, and Tim Holtz distress inks.

I started by smudging distress ink onto watercolor paper with the distress tool, then I dropped some water onto the ink smudges. I used a paper towel to blot the water, resulting in the white spots.  I used the solid dots from the Roses for You set and distress ink to stamp the yellow and red dots.
The heart was inked with distress ink, then the rose and the words 'is all we need.'  I stamped and water colored the Rose onto a watercolor paper scrap, and cut it out, using foam tape to give dimension.
I layered the love die twice, then again onto craft foam, so it stands out on the card.
I layered the panel onto black, then added a narrow red strip. A strip of black and white striped paper along the edge of the white A2 card is the foundation for the panel.  Some black sequins add balance and finish off the card.
Now I just need to tuck it away for Valentine's Day!

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge - Something new (new stamp sets and die for me)

Tuesday Throwdown challenge  - Your favorite medium (distress inks)
